Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal, has called on religious institutions to refrain from obstructing roads during services, emphasizing the dangers this poses to other road users.

Speaking at the 2024 Mega Town Hall Meeting organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abuja, she noted that blocking roads during Friday prayers and Sunday services violates fundamental human rights and creates significant hazards. Dongban-Mensem encouraged worshippers to employ road safety officials to manage traffic rather than creating blockages.

Additionally, she urged construction companies to avoid dumping materials in unauthorized areas to facilitate better traffic control. The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, highlighted the corps’ efforts to enhance road safety and collaborate with security agencies to address crimes involving vehicles. He reinforced that road safety is a collective responsibility and called for stronger partnerships to improve traffic management in the FCT.
