Members of the Igbehin, Agbowa-Ikosi community in Lagos, along with the Keshiro family, have appealed to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to ensure justice in the alleged murder of Idowu Keshiro, a security guard at the Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The plea arises amid claims that some community members were involved in Keshiro’s death and accusations of attempts to subvert the judicial process.

In a petition dated October 18, 2024, submitted through their legal representatives, the Keshiro family expressed concern over attempts to release the suspects unconditionally, despite their arrest and arraignment at the Ogba Magistrate Court. According to a legal advisory from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution, the suspects—identified as Mukaila Salau (a.k.a. Actor), Abubakar Suleiman Mayaki, Ibrahim Ekemode, and Ahmed Tiamiyu (a.k.a. Fowomeye)—are indicted for conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and related charges.

The petition highlights the family’s fears regarding relatives of the defendants allegedly boasting about their political connections, which they claim could lead to the suspects’ release during the next court sitting on November 26. The petition was also addressed to the Lagos State Attorney General, Chief Judge, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Akeem Keshiro, the deceased’s elder brother, reported facing threats for pursuing justice for his brother. He stated, “Their thugs have been threatening us, stating they are just waiting for the next court date when the defendants will be released. We urge Governor Sanwo-Olu to intervene and ensure justice is served.”

Community elder Saula Lateef Abatan echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the fear prevailing in the area. Abatan, who suffered injuries from an alleged attack by supporters of the defendants, recalled, “I went to my site on Easter Day and unfortunately ran into a group causing chaos. I was attacked and beaten so badly that I still have difficulty walking.”

The Keshiro family and community members are calling for accountability and justice in light of the alleged attempts to manipulate the legal process surrounding Idowu Keshiro’s murder.
