The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the government to address pressing issues of insecurity, economic hardship, and social division. This appeal was made by CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, in a message from Abuja to Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Archbishop Okoh called for Nigerian leaders to prioritize policies that alleviate the suffering of the populace and promote justice and equity. He emphasized that good governance and transparent leadership are essential for restoring hope and confidence in the nation’s future.

He remarked, “As Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, we in CAN express hope that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will inspire Nigerians to pursue justice, peace, and unity.”

Highlighting the significance of peace and understanding, Archbishop Okoh stressed the strength found in Nigeria’s cultural and religious diversity and the need for solidarity among citizens. He urged everyone to use this celebration to renew their commitment to fostering peace and mutual respect.

In his message, Archbishop Okoh emphasized that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and called for unity across religious and ethnic lines. He encouraged religious leaders to continue promoting messages of tolerance and coexistence, and to inspire communities to engage in acts of kindness and support, especially for the less fortunate.
