Cameroon’s government has prohibited the media from discussing the health of President Paul Biya, Africa’s second-longest-ruling leader, following rumors that the 91-year-old is gravely ill. A document signed by Territorial Administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji, dated October 9, cited national security concerns, stating that any media discussion on the president’s condition was officially banned, with violators facing legal action.
Biya, who has ruled Cameroon for over 41 years, has not been seen publicly since early September, fueling speculation about his health. Despite this, the government insists he is in “excellent health” and attending to his duties in Geneva.
