The Center for Leadership Legacy International has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key figures in his administration to address the marginalization of the Defunct Tinubu/Shettima Women’s Presidential Campaign Council. Despite their significant role in the 2023 presidential election, these women have been reportedly sidelined in government appointments.

Comrade Omonu Gowon-Nelson, the Centre’s lead director, has called for immediate action to integrate these women into key government roles. He emphasized that doing so would be a just move and help restore trust and stability within the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Centre pointed out that the campaign team, led by former First Lady Aisha Buhari, Senator Remi Tinubu, and Mrs. Nana Shettima, had made substantial contributions, including financial support and personal risks.

The exclusion of these women could potentially harm the party’s reputation, particularly among its female supporters, as other campaign organizations have been included in the government. The Centre has urged President Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and his wife Nana Shettima to engage in dialogue to address this issue.

The Centre for Leadership Legacy International is committed to advocating for the recognition and inclusion of these women to promote inclusivity, equality, and a vibrant democracy.
