The burial of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has been scheduled for November 1, 2024.
Senator Ben Obi, Chairman of the burial committee, announced this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. He detailed the series of events leading up to the burial:
- Lagos Day of Tributes: October 16, 2024, at Eko Hotels and Convention Centre.
- Abuja Day of Tributes: October 18, 2024, at the National Ecumenical Centre.
- Enugu Day of Tributes: October 26, 2024, with a brief stop at Ohanaeze headquarters and the main event at Okpara Square.
- Owerri Service of Songs: October 29, 2024.
- Commendation Service: November 1, 2024, in Owerri, followed by the burial.
Senator Obi, accompanied by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary General Amb. Okey Emuchay and burial sub-committee chairs, confirmed that additional details will be provided as the date approaches.
Regarding Chief Iwuanyanwu’s legacy and efforts, it was noted that he died fulfilled, having made significant efforts to address the issues he was passionate about, including the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
