BRUNO FERNANDES ESCAPES SUSPENSION AFTER RED CARD IS OVERTURNED

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has avoided a three-match suspension after his red card during a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham was overturned. The Portugal midfielder was shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh for a high tackle on James Maddison during Sunday’s match at Old Trafford.

However, it was clear that Fernandes slipped before making contact with Maddison, who acknowledged that the challenge did not warrant a red card.

Following an appeal from United, the English Football Association (FA) ruled in favor of Fernandes, stating that there was a case of wrongful dismissal.

In a statement on Tuesday, the FA announced: “Bruno Fernandes will be available for Manchester United’s next three games following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal.”

The 30-year-old is now set to participate in matches against Aston Villa, Brentford, and West Ham in the upcoming Premier League fixtures.

Fernandes’ availability comes as a welcome relief for struggling United manager Erik ten Hag, who is under pressure to improve results. The Red Devils currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, having secured only two wins from their first six matches.
