Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has openly acknowledged that the team is not yet prepared to challenge for the Premier League title. This admission follows a 3-0 thrashing by Liverpool at Old Trafford, marking United’s second defeat of the season.
Fernandes’ Assessment of the Team
Fernandes conceded that United’s performance, characterized by defensive instability and lackluster attacking play, indicates that they are far from title contenders. Despite the heavy defeat, Fernandes stressed that the team’s immediate goal is to secure a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League.
He told DAZN Portugal, “I am perfectly aware that this Manchester United is not ready to win the Premier League. Our current focus is on finishing in the top four to gain access to the Champions League. There is still much to improve for us to reach our greater objective, which is to one day win this championship.”
Call for Improvement
Fernandes emphasized the need for significant improvement if Manchester United hopes to become genuine title contenders this season. The team has struggled with back-to-back losses and has managed only one win in their first three Premier League matches.
