Brigadier General Sadiq has been placed under military detention in Abuja, facing serious allegations of corruption and misconduct. He is accused of diverting rice palliatives meant for soldiers and selling military equipment for personal gain. Reports indicate that rice supplies from the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, intended for troops in Kano, were withheld by Sadiq.
Additionally, Sadiq allegedly stole military assets, including a MIKANO heavy-duty generator from the Military Training Camp in Falgore, Kano, which was sold to scrap dealers. Following these accusations, he was summoned to Abuja for questioning and has been detained in a military police guardroom.
The special investigation branch of the military police is leading the probe, and there are strong indications that Sadiq will face a court-martial. Brigadier General A.M. Tukur has been appointed as Sadiq’s successor as commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.
The military has pledged a thorough investigation as the case unfolds.
