BRACE UP NIGERIANS, THUNDERSTORMS, RAINS IN MAJOR CITIES FOR 3 DAYS FROM FRIDAY

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and rains across the country from Friday to Sunday. Coastal states, including Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, are also expected to experience rainfall later in the day.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Thursday, August 29, 2024, predicts morning thunderstorms on Friday over parts of Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Taraba, Jigawa, Gombe, and Bauchi States. Thunderstorms are also anticipated later in the day in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Bauchi, Adamawa, Jigawa, and Kano States.

The Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Plateau States will see thunderstorms in the morning, with additional storms expected in the afternoon and evening over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue States. Rain is expected in Abia, Imo, Oyo, Edo, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States in the morning, and later over Enugu, Anambra, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Edo, Delta, Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa States.

For Saturday, thunderstorms are forecasted for Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Taraba States in the morning, and for Sokoto, Adamawa, Kebbi, Taraba, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe, Bauchi, and Katsina States later in the day. The Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Niger States will experience morning thunderstorms, with more storms expected later over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Niger States.

Rains are anticipated in Osun, Edo, Delta, and Lagos States in the morning, with continuous rains expected in Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti States. Coastal states will also experience rains later in the day.

On Sunday, isolated thunderstorms are predicted in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States during the morning, with additional thunderstorms in Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Bauchi, and Kaduna States later in the day. The North Central region will have cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms in Niger State in the afternoon/evening, while the South is expected to be predominantly cloudy with possible rains in Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States during the afternoon/evening.
