BOLANLE AUSTEN-PETERS REVEALS THAT HOUSE OF GA’A WAS FILMED IN EPE

Bolanle Austen-Peters (BAP), renowned for her acclaimed productions such as Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Man of God, and House of Ga’a, has revealed that her recent epic House of Ga’a was filmed at the BAP Productions Film Village in Epe.

In an Instagram post on August 23, 2024, BAP shared details about the film’s location, stating, “So many have asked where we shot House of GA’A on @netflixfilm @naijaonnetflix. This is it! BAP Productions Film Village in Epe.”

She highlighted the film village’s expansive landscape, noting its suitability for large-scale film productions: “Over 10,000 acres of land, rolling hills, huts, and other facilities. Open for hire.”

House of Ga’a, set in the 18th-century Oyo Empire, follows the story of Ga’a, a power-hungry political figure who orchestrates a series of brutal betrayals to ascend to power. The film features an impressive cast including Femi Branch, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, and many others.

The film has garnered significant attention, making it onto Netflix’s Top 10 global chart for non-English films. Austen-Peters continues to be celebrated for her directorial skills, both in theatre and film, further solidifying her status as a leading figure in Nollywood. Her previous works include Bling Lagosians and Collision Course, as well as acclaimed plays such as Saro, the Musical and Death and the King’s Horseman by Wole Soyinka.
