The Super Eagles have faced a challenging ordeal during their trip to Libya for the second leg of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. After securing a 1-0 victory in Uyo last week, the team arrived in Libya only to be detained by authorities at Al Abaq Airport, preventing them from continuing to their intended destination in Benghazi.

The team was stranded at the airport for over 15 hours without any arrangements for transportation. Their flight, originally scheduled to land in Benghazi, was rerouted to Al Abaq, located about two hours away from the city.

Defender William Troost-Ekong shared images on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing the difficult conditions under which the players had to spend the night. Most of them were forced to sleep in uncomfortable spaces, while some officials tried to rest on airport chairs.

Despite the lengthy wait, there was no assistance provided by Libyan representatives, exacerbating the team’s frustration and disappointment during this critical phase of their AFCON qualification campaign.

Victor Boniface, the Super Eagles striker, has publicly expressed his disappointment over the transportation arrangements made for the Nigerian team during their trip for the AFCON qualifiers against Libya. He shared a photograph of the bus provided by the Libyan Football Association on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which he referred to as the “Isakaba bus.”

After the team’s flight was diverted from Benghazi to Al Abaq, they faced significant delays, spending over 15 hours stranded at the airport awaiting assistance from Libyan officials. Boniface highlighted the unacceptable conditions of the bus, stating, “See Iskaba bus wey them bring come yesterday, Nobody enter ooo.” He further added, “See this dragon carry bus come after 16 hours. Come Dey video.”

The Nigerian contingent’s experience has been compounded by unsportsmanlike conduct from the Libyan side, following their 1-0 loss in the first leg held in Uyo. The team had to endure difficult conditions while waiting for a resolution, showcasing the challenges faced in international sports travel.

NIGERIA’S CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION DECLINES IN SEPTEMBER 2024

< 1 mn read

Nigeria’s crude oil production has experienced a decline, dropping to 1.544 million barrels per day (bpd) in September 2024, down from 1.570 million bpd in August 2024. This represents a 1.7% decrease month-on-month, as reported by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in its October 2024 Crude Oil and Condensate Production report.

The decrease in production levels raises concerns about Nigeria’s oil output stability and its implications for the nation’s economy, which heavily relies on oil revenues. The reasons behind this drop may include operational challenges, disruptions in production facilities, or regulatory changes impacting the sector.

Further details are expected as this story develops, including potential impacts on the oil market and the broader economy.

CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING EDO ELECTION RESULTS

0

The political landscape in Edo State has become increasingly contentious following the recent gubernatorial elections, with accusations flying between the ruling party and the opposition. A pro-democracy group has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), highlighting a comment made by a PDP member who placed a N5 million bet on national television, claiming the party would win the election. This act was deemed by critics as trivializing the serious aspirations of Edo residents, framing the election as a mere gamble.

The group further accused the PDP of overstepping its boundaries by attempting to usurp the powers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare election results. They expressed concern that the PDP was relying on the opinions of partisan groups masquerading as legitimate election observer organizations. According to the group, these so-called observers exceeded their role by publicly opposing the results declared by INEC, which should have been limited to monitoring the elections and offering recommendations.

Osaigbovo, a representative of the pro-democracy group, stated that INEC guidelines mandate the uploading of results to its Results Viewing Portal (iREV) once voting concludes. However, he alleged that the PDP began releasing its own results from its “Situation Room” as early as 10 a.m., before the last voter had finished casting their ballot. This, he argued, was an attempt to fabricate a predetermined outcome and could lead to post-election violence.

The group emphasized that the PDP’s claims were unfounded, noting that the results declared by INEC aligned with those available on the iREV. They also referenced a recent Supreme Court ruling which stated that INEC’s failure to electronically transmit results via the iREV did not impact the overall collation process. This ruling was pertinent in the context of previous election challenges brought by candidates from the Labour Party (LP) and the PDP, which contested the outcome of the February elections that affirmed Bola Tinubu’s presidency.

In summary, the tension between the PDP and the ruling party in Edo State continues to escalate as both sides navigate the complex aftermath of the gubernatorial elections, with accusations of misconduct and attempts to undermine electoral integrity dominating the discourse.

LIBYAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION RESPONDS TO MISTREATMENT OF NIGERIA’S SUPER EAGLES

The Libyan Football Association has released an official statement addressing the mistreatment of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and their delegates upon their arrival in Libya.

The Nigerian national football team faced significant difficulties after their flight was unexpectedly diverted, leading them to land at an airport not initially planned. This diversion resulted in the team, along with representatives from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), being stranded for over 15 hours without adequate provisions or sustenance.

In response to the incident, the Libyan FA expressed their deep concern over the situation through their official account on X. They acknowledged the reports regarding the diversion of the Nigerian national team’s flight ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Libya.

The Libyan FA stated, “While we regret any inconvenience caused, it is essential to note that such incidents can occur due to routine air traffic control protocols, security checks, or logistical challenges that affect international air travel.” They emphasized that the issues faced by the Super Eagles were not intentional but rather a result of logistical challenges.

In light of the ordeal, the NFF has announced plans to withdraw the Super Eagles from the upcoming clash in Libya, further complicating the situation for both teams ahead of the qualifier.

NULGE PRESIDENT THREATENS INDUSTRIAL ACTION OVER SALARY ARREARS IN EDO STATE

The newly elected President of the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Clifford Daudu, has issued a stern warning of impending industrial action across the 18 local government areas of the state if salary arrears and statutory deductions owed to workers are not settled by the end of October.

In an interaction with journalists in Benin City, Daudu highlighted that local government council workers in Edo State have been owed salaries ranging from 2017 to 2023, creating significant hardship for the affected employees. He criticized the local councils’ management for failing to remit statutory deductions from workers’ salaries, which amount to several million naira.

Daudu emphasized that NULGE has repeatedly reached out to the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), the umbrella body for all local government chairmen, and had participated in meetings that concluded with an agreement to begin paying off both salary and deduction arrears starting June 2024. However, as of October 2024, these commitments remain unfulfilled, despite multiple reminders from the union.

“Despite increased allocations to local governments from the federation account and improved internal revenue generation (IGR) rates, it is unacceptable that these arrears remain unpaid,” Daudu stated.

He warned that if their demands are not met by the end of October, the union will mobilize its members for a complete shutdown of the councils, indicating a strong resolve to address the ongoing financial grievances affecting local government employees in Edo State.

NIGERIA’S MANUFACTURING SECTOR FACES CRISIS DUE TO ESCALATING ENERGY COSTS

The manufacturing sector in Nigeria is grappling with critical challenges as escalating energy costs threaten its survival. Rising production and logistics expenses are pushing the sector toward potential collapse.

Manufacturers have repeatedly raised alarms about the severe impact of increased energy prices, which have seen petrol prices soar by approximately 430% and electricity tariffs rise by 212% for ‘Band A’ consumers over the past year. On April 3, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved a significant hike in electricity tariffs for Band A customers, who receive around 20 hours of electricity daily. The tariff increased from N66 to N225 per Kilowatt-hour (kWh), later adjusted to N209/kWh.

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has labeled this tariff increase detrimental to economic growth and has initiated legal action against NERC and the electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in the Federal High Court in Lagos. The suit challenges the legality of the electricity tariff hike, citing four primary concerns:

  1. The assertion that the due process required by law for tariff reviews was not followed before DisCos applied to NERC for the review on July 31, 2023.
  2. The claim that regulatory requirements for tariff reviews were ignored prior to NERC issuing the supplementary order on April 3, 2024, and the subsequent rate adjustment on May 6, 2024.
  3. The argument that placing the burden of the tariff increase solely on Band “A” consumers discriminates against them, as other bands were exempted.
  4. The demand for compliance with administrative procedures for tariff review before implementing the April and May supplementary orders.

In response, NERC opposed the lawsuit, arguing that MAN’s case was an abuse of court processes, hastily filed without due legal procedure. Unfortunately for manufacturers, the court has struck out the case, marking a significant setback in their efforts to reverse the electricity tariff to its prior levels.

This situation highlights the urgent need for comprehensive reforms in Nigeria’s energy sector to stabilize costs and support the manufacturing industry, which plays a crucial role in the country’s economy.

A tragic incident occurred in Mu’azu village, Dan Gwanki Ward, Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area of Jigawa State, where 26-year-old Nura Mas’ud set his grandmother, Zuwaira Muhammad, ablaze.

Mas’ud confessed to the crime, explaining that he was upset after his grandmother expressed concerns about his physical appearance and health. He claimed that despite warning her on multiple occasions, she continued to voice her worries, leading him to purchase petrol, which he poured on her before igniting her at their family home.

The Jigawa Police Command spokesperson, Shiisu, confirmed the incident, stating that Mas’ud was arrested shortly after the crime was reported.

“On October 8, 2024, at about 1600 hours, the command was notified of a sad incident that occurred in Mu’azu village,” Shiisu said. “One Nura Mas’ud, age 26, went to his family home with a petrol canister and suddenly poured it on his grandmother, Zuwaira Muhammad, age 60, and set her ablaze.”

Zuwaira Muhammad later succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical treatment. The doctor on duty confirmed her death, and her body was released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.

Police detectives from the Sule Tankarkar division quickly apprehended Mas’ud and later transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. During interrogation, Mas’ud admitted to committing the act, revealing that he suffers from mental illness and has been receiving treatment at Kazaure Psychiatric Hospital.

The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, A. Abdullahi, has directed the SCID in Dutse to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrator is vigorously prosecuted, aiming to deter similar incidents in the future. This tragic event raises concerns about mental health awareness and the need for support systems for individuals suffering from psychological issues

A 15-year-old commercial tricycle rider, known only as ‘Smally,’ was brutally hacked to death with a battle axe by a man identified as Jereoma from Jeddo Community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

Reports indicate that ‘Smally’ had only recently entered the tricycle business, operating between Ugbuwangue and Ogunu communities in Warri South Local Government Area. On the night of the incident, he picked up Jereoma for a chartered ride from Ugbuwangue to Ogunu between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tragically, he was attacked shortly after reaching Ogunu.

Following the attack, the assailant discarded ‘Smally’s’ remains near a plantain farm beside a private school at the Ogunu head bridge. A member of the Ugbuwangue task force, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported that after killing the young rider, Jereoma attempted to flee with the tricycle but crashed it into a ditch.

Witnesses, including Hausa traders who observed the crash, rushed to assist the rider. Upon seeing Jereoma covered in blood and with the tricycle, they grew suspicious. When they questioned him about the ownership of the tricycle, he struggled to provide clear answers.

Concerned for their safety and wanting to investigate further, the traders contacted the chairman of the Ugbuwangue community task force, who, along with his team, apprehended Jereoma and took him to a community security post for questioning. Unsatisfied with his responses, they subsequently brought him to a nearby military post on the NPA expressway, where he continued to refuse to disclose the whereabouts of ‘Smally.’

Meanwhile, other tricycle riders in the area conducted a search and eventually discovered the mutilated body of the 15-year-old, whose head had been gruesomely severed from behind. This shocking incident has sent ripples of fear and anger through the community, highlighting concerns about safety and rising violence in the area.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has announced that significant progress has been made by all critical stakeholders in clearing the outstanding pension liabilities of public sector retirees.

Despite facing setbacks, including delays in the release of funds for retirees’ accrued rights, PenCom is actively working to implement long-term solutions that will prevent future delays in funding.

During a workshop on the online enrolment application for Pension Desk Officers (PDOs) of Treasury-funded Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Abuja, the Acting Director-General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, provided insights into these developments. She emphasized the Commission’s commitment to building the capacity of stakeholders, particularly PDOs, whose roles are essential in the pension management process.

Oloworaran noted that the workshop marks the beginning of final preparations for the 2024 online enrollment of prospective retirees for 2025. She highlighted PenCom’s responsibility in ensuring a seamless pre-retirement verification and enrollment process for employees of Federal Government Treasury-funded MDAs.

Every year, the Commission conducts this exercise to gather accurate data necessary for determining the accrued pension rights of prospective retirees. This data collection allows the government to make the necessary budgetary provisions to ensure timely payments to retirees.

As the Commission continues to enhance its processes and systems, stakeholders can expect improvements aimed at providing a more efficient and user-friendly experience in pension management.

In a significant effort to alleviate poverty and hunger, the Atum Humanitarian and Charitable Initiative has launched a N500 million fund aimed at supporting two million needy Nigerians. The announcement was made by Hon. Ismaila Yusuf Atus, Executive Chairman of the organization, on Sunday.

The initiative seeks to address the severe hunger and hardship faced by many Nigerians, particularly in light of the rising fuel prices that have exacerbated existing challenges. Atus emphasized the need for urgent measures to reduce the suffering of citizens and acknowledged the government’s ongoing efforts while stressing that more is needed.

The fund will provide critical assistance to vulnerable individuals and families across the country. Atus called on the government to take immediate action to alleviate the hardships experienced by many, stating that existing initiatives are insufficient to meet the growing needs of the population.

In the official statement, Atus expressed, “Given the current challenges in the country, the Atum Humanitarian and Charitable Initiative has decided to assist Nigerians who are struggling with poverty by raising N500 million to help two million people. The hunger is severe, and the rising fuel prices have only added to the hardships. Many people can no longer afford to feed themselves properly.”

He further urged NGOs, business leaders, and wealthy individuals to unite in supporting communities in need, saying, “I urge those of us with NGOs to unite and support our communities. We also call on the government to take measures to alleviate the suffering in our nation. While we acknowledge that the government is doing its best and that many initiatives were in place before this administration took over, we still urge them to work towards reducing the hardships faced by citizens.”

Atus appealed to affluent Nigerians to step forward during this critical time, emphasizing the importance of sharing resources to assist those in need. He remarked, “It is essential for the wealthy to share their resources and assist those in need. Additionally, we call on business leaders and politicians not to hoard their wealth in bank accounts while the populace suffers.”

MIDDAY CARNAGE IN AGENEBODE: COMMUNITY RAGES OVER ALLEGED KIDNAPPINGS AND POLICE COMPLICITY

Agenebode, the headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Area in Edo State, was engulfed in chaos yesterday as a violent outbreak resulted in multiple fatalities and significant property damage. Reports indicate that several individuals were killed, and the local police station, along with all vehicles inside, was set ablaze. This violence was allegedly sparked by accusations that suspected criminal elements from the Fulani community were involved in kidnappings and murders, specifically for organ harvesting, with claims of police protection for the perpetrators.

The unrest stemmed from the unresolved case of a young boy who had been kidnapped weeks earlier. Despite a ransom being paid, he remained missing. Residents reported that local youths managed to trace the boy’s phone to a suspect who was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police. This suspect allegedly led the youths to the head of the Hausa/Fulani community in the area.

Frustrated with the police’s handling of the situation, community members stormed the police station, taking the suspect with them. This suspect reportedly confessed to the youths that numerous kidnapped victims had been murdered and buried in shallow graves after parts of their bodies were harvested.

Upon digging in the compound of the Hausa/Fulani leader, who had fled with his family, the youths discovered the decomposing body of the young boy and several other bones believed to be human remains. Enraged by this discovery, the youths retaliated by burning down the leader’s residence and various business establishments owned by Hausa/Fulani individuals, resulting in further casualties.

One youth expressed the community’s frustration, stating, “Enough is enough, this must stop. The police kill our children and still collect money from us; these kidnappers will kidnap our children, collect money, and still kill them.” He lamented that ransoms ranging from N2.5 million to N3 million were often paid without guarantees of the victims’ safety.

In response to the violence, the chairperson of the local council, Mrs. Benedicta Atoh, was reportedly too shocked to comment, according to aides. Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 5, Arungwa Udo, and the state’s Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, visited the area to restore order and conduct an on-the-ground assessment of the situation.

The events in Agenebode highlight the escalating tensions and fears surrounding security in the region, reflecting a growing crisis that needs urgent attention from both law enforcement and government authorities.

INCREASE IN WOMEN’S WORKFORCE PARTICIPATION COULD BOOST INDIA’S MANUFACTURING OUTPUT BY 9%, SAYS WORLD BANK

0
2 mn read

The World Bank’s recent South Asia Development Update highlights the significant potential impact of increased female workforce participation on India’s manufacturing output, projecting a potential rise of 9 percent. This insight comes alongside the Bank’s maintained GDP growth forecasts for India, estimating growth at 7 percent for FY25 and 6.7 percent for FY26. The overall growth rate for South Asia is projected at 6.4 percent for 2024, largely driven by strong domestic demand in India and improved recoveries in neighboring countries like Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The report underscores that India’s growth will be supported by robust private consumption, bolstered by higher-than-anticipated agricultural output and policies aimed at boosting employment. However, public consumption growth is expected to slow as the government focuses on fiscal consolidation.

A critical finding of the report addresses the disparities in female labor force participation in South Asia. It notes that, on average, the employment rate of women after marriage is 12 percentage points lower than before marriage across four South Asian nations: India, Maldives, Nepal, and Bangladesh. This disparity indicates a significant barrier to women’s full economic participation.

World Bank Vice-President for South Asia, Martin Raiser, emphasized the need for key policy reforms to integrate more women into the workforce. He argued that increasing female labor force participation rates to match those of men could boost the region’s GDP by up to 51 percent.

In India specifically, the female labor force participation rate (LFPR) has seen a notable increase, rising to 41.7 percent in FY24 from just 23.3 percent in FY18, according to the latest Periodic Labour Force Survey for the July-June 2023-24 period. This growth reflects a positive trend towards greater inclusion of women in the workforce, but further efforts are needed to sustain and enhance this momentum.

Overall, the findings of the World Bank report reinforce the importance of gender equality in economic participation as a critical driver for India’s growth and the broader South Asian region. By removing barriers and implementing supportive policies, countries can unlock significant economic potential and foster more inclusive development.

Youth Conference: A Call to Action for Nigeria’s Future

0
2 mn read

As President Bola Tinubu marked Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, many anticipated announcements concerning political reforms, particularly aimed at revitalizing the nation’s electoral processes and enhancing the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The pressing need for electoral reform has become increasingly clear, especially as Nigeria approaches the midpoint of Tinubu’s four-year term.

Instead of tackling these significant issues, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to Local Government Autonomy and announced a forthcoming 30-day national youth conference. This initiative is intended to empower young Nigerians to engage in discussions about their future—a move that raises questions about its authenticity and intent.

Historically, past administrations have initiated similar conferences without yielding tangible results. President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Political Reform Conference in 2005 and President Goodluck Jonathan’s National Conference in 2014 aimed to reshape the constitutional landscape but ultimately fell short. Notably, the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Tinubu, boycotted Jonathan’s conference, viewing it as a political maneuver to bolster his declining popularity.

In 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari championed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run (NTYTR) Bill, which ignited awareness and activism among the youth, culminating in the #EndSARS protests. However, the aftermath of these movements exposed the limitations of political engagement, particularly evident in the controversial presidential election on February 25, 2023, which left many disillusioned.

As the announcement of a youth conference looms, skepticism arises: Is this a genuine opportunity for youth empowerment, or merely a distraction from the dire economic conditions gripping the nation? Are the government’s intentions aimed at fragmenting youth coalitions that have begun to mobilize for change? Or is it a sincere attempt to engage young people in shaping a future that has been largely determined by previous generations?

Nigerian youth must respond proactively to this call for a conference. Attendance should be robust, ensuring that the dialogue is meaningful and impactful. Boycotting is not an option; the goal should be to create an atmosphere where every voice is heard and valued. The gathering must transcend the pitfalls of being merely a platform for rented groups and become a catalyst for real change.

The youth of Nigeria hold the potential to drive the country towards a brighter future. It is essential that they engage in constructive dialogue, fostering a collective vision without resorting to violence. The phrase “jaw-jaw rather than war-war” underscores the importance of peaceful discourse in pursuing societal progress.

In conclusion, this youth conference must not be another fleeting event, but rather a foundational moment for Nigerian youth to assert their rights and influence. It is time for the younger generation to seize the opportunity, articulate their aspirations, and lay the groundwork for a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.

Africa’s Leadership Crisis Amid Global Turmoil

0
2 mn read

As the world grapples with escalating conflicts and geopolitical tensions, it appears that Africa is lagging behind in strategic positioning and leadership. With various global powers, particularly in the Middle East and Europe, focused on their own agendas, African leaders seem preoccupied with attending numerous international summits rather than addressing pressing issues at home.

In the face of impending crises, the United States is eager to resolve its internal political matters, particularly the upcoming November elections, to refocus on its global ambitions. Meanwhile, European nations are engaged in navigating their complex relationships with both the U.S. and their own geopolitical challenges, including the protracted war in Ukraine. Questions arise regarding the efficacy of continuing this conflict, especially when parallels are drawn to other global scenarios, such as Israel’s handling of hostages in Gaza.

Russia and China are maintaining their focus, while regions like South America and the Caribbean are seeking unity in solving their respective challenges. Yet, Africa, burdened by a poorly functioning African Union (AU) under the leadership of Moussa Faki Muhammad, is failing to capitalize on this moment of global reevaluation. Instead of decisive action, African leaders are frequently seen shuttling between foreign capitals for summits that often yield little benefit for the continent.

These high-level gatherings in cities like Washington, Beijing, Tokyo, Moscow, Istanbul, Seoul, and Brussels lead to questions about the true cost of such engagements. With the AU representing 55 member states, the focus on individual bilateral discussions seems counterproductive, particularly when no unified African stance is presented. Instead, African leaders appear as if they are being herded, lacking a cohesive strategy to assert their interests.

One striking example of this deficiency is Africa’s silence following the European Court of Justice ruling on the exploitation of Western Sahara’s resources. Despite being theoretically allied with the EU, no African nation has dared to demand compliance with this ruling, revealing a troubling lack of confidence and agency within the continent.

Africa’s leadership deficit is palpable, and it transcends the need for formal positions within the AU. Historical moments, such as Nigeria’s General Murtala Muhammed’s bold declaration during the 1976 OAU Summit, remind us of the potential for African leaders to assert independence and reject foreign dominance. His statement that “Africa has come of age” resonates today, highlighting the urgent need for African nations to unite and speak with one voice on the international stage.

In conclusion, as the global landscape shifts and intensifies, Africa must reevaluate its approach to leadership and strategy. The time for meaningful collaboration, assertive diplomacy, and a collective African identity is now. The continent’s leaders must rise above the fray of individual agendas and prioritize the unity and progress of Africa as a whole.

Yesterday, chaos ensued in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as hired thugs disrupted a press briefing organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The invasion resulted in injuries to several journalists and party officials present at the event.

Among those injured were Mr. Tife Owolabi, the Chairman of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Bayelsa State, and Jacobson Park from People’s FM 93.1. The attackers wielded rods, causing Owolabi to bleed from his forehead and left hand, while also damaging chairs and other property in the venue.

As attendees fled in panic, the briefing was temporarily halted until security forces, including Operation Doo Akpo, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigeria Police, arrived at Da Crib Hotel, where the event was taking place.

Following the arrival of security personnel, the briefing resumed. During this session, the Chairman of the APC Sagbama, Jonah Abeke, announced the indefinite suspension of seven party members for alleged anti-party activities. This decision aligns with ongoing suspensions within the party.

The suspended members include Peres Peretu, Matthew Karimo, Major Oputa, Tangi Samuel, King Bolouyi Sufadoh, Goodluck Ebomu, and Youdio-gwei Benjamin. Abeke stated, “In the 2023 National Assembly, Presidential, and gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa State, they openly worked for Governor Douye Diri and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They made no pretenses about their anti-party activities.”

He emphasized that the party leadership is committed to maintaining discipline and integrity among its members, thereby reinforcing the party’s stance against actions that undermine its objectives.
