The Federal Government on Wednesday presented 1,437 metric tonnes of assorted food commodities to the Niger State Government for distribution to vulnerable persons in the state.
Aclimate activist, Greta Thunberg, has been fined for defying police orders during a climate protest in March at Swedish parliament.
During the hearing of the case on Wednesday at the Stockholm District Court, Ms Thunberg was charged 6,000 Swedish crowns ($550) and an additional 1,000 crown (£73) in damages.

Residents of Osogbo in Osun have lamented the high cost of food, urging the federal government to establish price control boards to regulate the cost of staple foods urgently.
The residents, who spoke on Wednesday in Osogbo, said the increase in the prices of basic food items in the markets was alarming.

Lawyers of the firm gave the assurance on Tuesday, as efforts are being made to track down the missing $8 billion in customer assets when FTX imploded virtually overnight and triggered a crisis in the crypto market.
The lawyers explained that a plan was filed in the federal bankruptcy court in Delaware and would provide FTX’s creditors, including hundreds of thousands of ordinary investors who used the platform to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, with cash payments equivalent to 118 per cent of the assets they stored on FTX.

A man who is married with two kids has been accused of eloping with his landlord’s 20-year-old daughter.
The man known as Manlafy Danso is a tenant at a residence in Wellingara Coastal Road in the Gambia.
According to reports, the girl and Danso, a Niamina Sotokoi local, vanished on Friday, May 3, 2024, on Wellingara Coastal Road.
The girl’s parents soon lodged a complaint against him, and the two are still being sought after.
The 20-year-old’s father expressed his distress to a journalist, claiming that Danso had manipulated his daughter using spiritual methods.
She said:
“This is far from ordinary. He manipulated my daughter through some spiritual means. My daughter had just completed memorizing the Holy Quran, and we were even preparing to commemorate her achievement. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find them. I am sure they are staying in a guest house. He is a criminal who is known to the police,” he said.
Another relative of the landlord’s daughter disclosed: “Manlafy is a dangerous criminal. He abducted the girl.”
The family is asking anyone who knows where they are to get in touch with the closest police station.
Former Bayern Munich star, Owen Hargreaves, has said that he felt sorry for Harry Kane after his team’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League.
Hargreaves said this while reacting to Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final second leg 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Kane has scored 44 goals in 44 matches across all competitions for Bayern Munich this season.

A man has been left deeply heartbroken as his girlfriend replies him after confronting her when a check through her phone showed that she already has a fiancé.

Nigerian artist Skales has narrated how he nearly killed a girl with his car after he knocked her down while driving on the Lekki-Epe expressway.
According to him, while he was driving a girl ran into the expressway where he was driving at top speed and he hit her with his car.
Skales disclosed how scared he was after seeing the girl’s body flip into the air and thought she died. He disclosed how he rushed her to the hospital for immediate treatment.
Skales has however called on the government to provide pedestrian lanes at the expressway to avoid any casualties.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Ifeanyi Ubah, has said that two refineries- Port Harcourt and Warri would be fully operational by the end of 2024.
Ubah said plans have already been put in place to achieve the target, stressing that the Kaduna Refinery would also be operational before the end of next year.
He said that the completion of the plants and the addition of supply from the 650,000 barrels per day, bpd Dangote Refinery would enable the nation to meet its domestic fuel demand.
The senator also called on the federal government and other stakeholders to work toward the establishment of modular refineries to further expand the nation’s domestic capacity to refine crude oil.
“My mandate is to ensure that the refineries in Nigeria are up and functional. By my involvement, before the end of this year, two refineries will be up and running.
“Also, before the end of next year, the Kaduna refinery will come on stream.
“I can assure Nigerians that I will tirelessly pursue and ensure that these refineries are up and running before the end of the year. We have set up a technical team to visit the refineries every two weeks in order to meet the set target,” he said.
The Chairman/CEO of Chisco Transport, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, has commended the Dr. Peter Mbah Administration in Enugu State for its effort to reposition the transport and logistics sector in the state, including the administration’s plans to build modern transport interchanges in various parts of the state.

Speaking on Governor Mbah’s modern transport interchange plans, Chief Anyaegbu said, “His plans are very good. Transport is life, I have been in Transport for 46 years. I know what transport is.
“I understand that transport adds a lot to the economy. And which I will repeat myself again, after listening to the Executive Governor, I know he has good plans about this and this is why I am telling you that when you give him time, in a very short time, Enugu people will see a lot of improvement under his administration.
“He has a lot of plans on logistics and how to develop Enugu State in the area of logistics and every other area he has plans for. I am convinced that all his plans will come to fruition,” he stated.
