Kristen Stewart Blasts Hollywood Over ‘Phony’ Attempts To ‘Do Away With Patriarchy’

The “Love Lies Bleeding” star gave her two cents on the industry checking “these little boxes” pertaining to films.

Kristen Stewart slammed Hollywood for being “phony” by sticking to a select number of women filmmakers.

The “Love Lies Bleeding” star, who is set to make her feature directorial debut with “The Chronology of Water,” responded to efforts that make it “easy for” the film industry to involve women in a recent cover story for Porter magazine.

“[There’s a] thinking that we can check these little boxes, and then do away with the patriarchy, and how we’re all made of it,” she said.

She continued, “It’s easy for them to be like, ‘Look what we’re doing. We’re making Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie! We’re making Margot Robbie’s movie!’ And you’re like, OK, cool. You’ve chosen four…”

Stewart added that she’s in awe of Gyllenhaal and Robbie although “it feels phony.”

“If we’re congratulating each other for broadening perspective, when we haven’t really done enough, then we stop broadening,” Stewart said.

Stewart revealed that she’s in “soft prep” for “The Chronology of Water,” her film adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, following years of her making what she calls a “living document” (a screenplay) and pushing to finance the project.

She told Variety back in January that she would make “The Chronology of Water” before she ever works for someone else.

“Yeah, I will quit the fucking business,” said Stewart of the film that’s set to star Imogen Poots.

“I won’t make a-fucking-nother movie until I make this movie. I will tell you that, for sure. I think that will get things going.”

Stewart told Porter that the film, which she describes as a movie about “incest and periods and a woman violently repossessing her voice and body,” is a “fucking thrill ride” that’s difficult to watch at times.

She’s also set to direct the film in Latvia, which she noted has a “fledgling film culture.”

“Look, I’m all about the way we make movies here [in the U.S.], but I needed a sort of radical detachment,” Stewart said.

“I am not a director yet. I need to make a student film. I can’t do that here.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s Response To Fan’s Tattoo Typo Is *Chef’s Kiss*

The “Vampire” singer had the perfect reply to the fan’s appeal.

Olivia Rodrigo came to the rescue of a fan whose tattoo of one of her lyrics contained a typo.

Colorado resident Grace Flemming last month appealed on TikTok for Rodrigo to “pls change the lyrics officially” to her 2021 track “Hope Ur OK” after a tattoo artist accidentally inked “butterwings” instead of “butterfly wings” onto her arm.

The full line was supposed to be, “Address the letters, to the holes in my butterfly wings.”

“I’m literally crying over my nails right now,” Flemming said in the video.

“This is ur sign to ALWAYS double check the spelling before you get a tattoo,” Flemming captioned the clip.

Somehow, the video came to Rodrigo’s attention and on Monday she commented: “HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH OMG THIS IS THE NEW LYRIC IM CHANGING IT TO BUTTERWINGS.”

TIKTOK

The tattoo artist had offered to fix the error, Flemming told Today.com.

But now, following Rodrigo’s response, she may keep it.

“Not changing it definitely makes it more unique and special. I kind of want to keep it, but also want to get the right lyrics. Maybe I’ll keep this one, and get the right lyrics somewhere else,” she told the outlet.

Bill to review judicial officers’ salaries, allowances scale second reading in Senate

A bill for an act to upwardly review salaries, allowances and other fringe benefits of those working in the Nigerian judiciary has passed a second reading in the upper legislative chamber on Thursday.

The executive bill, sponsored by the Majority Leader of the Senate, Michael Bamidele Opeyemi scaled second reading after he highlighted the general principles, saying it would boost the morale of judicial officers and curb corruption if eventually passed.

In his contribution, Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau praised President Bola Tinubu for forwarding a bill that has to do with the welfare of judicial officers.

Barau sympathised with judicial officers who despite enormous challenges cannot complain or protest the inadequacy of wages because of the conservative nature of their job, explaining that the bill will take care of their wages in a manner that would boost their morale on the job.

He said: “Mr President, Distinguished Colleagues, this bill is very important and I want to commend President Bola Tinubu for bringing this bill as an executive bill. Judicial officers are not like other workers who protest for their demands because of the nature of their work.”

In his remark, Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio passed the bill and referred to the Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters to turn its report to the Committee of the whole in four weeks.

Mavin Records have continued to evolve over the years as evidenced in its three generations of stars.

From the first generation of Mavin Records with stars like Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, and Reekado Banks to the second generation of Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Johnny Drille, to the third generation with Magixx, Boy Spyce, and Bayyanni, there has been no shortage of stars at Mavin Records.

To mark the label’s 12th anniversary, here are 12 songs that capture its evolution.

The first group anthem from Mavin Records is a megahit record that swept across the continent and serve as a precursor of what’s to come.

Tiwa Savage, the First Lady of Mavin Records (as she then was) showcased the sensuality and charm with which she won the hearts of listeners.

The sensational hitmaker Dr. Sid is one of the artists who followed Don Jazzy from the defunct Mo’hit Records to Mavin Records.

On his smash hit single ‘Surulere’, he reminds listeners that Mavin remains the home of Afrobeats’ most prolific hitmaker.

This hit record introduced listeners to the second generation of Mavin Records stars as Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, and Di’Ja gave listeners a glimpse of what was to come.

Korede Bello scored a Don Jazzy-produced mega smash hit that proves that the label is indeed home to Afrobeats’ future stars.

Reekado Banks is the second artist signed by Don Jazzy and the first Mavin Record act to win the coveted Headies Next Rated prize. Reekado Banks won the award after an impressive run of singles led by the hit track ‘Catapult’.

Hitmaker Iyanya signed to Mavin Records after parting ways with Ubi Franklin‘s MMMG. To mark his presence as a Mavin star, Iyanya was joined by Don Jazzy & Dr. Sid for the hit single ‘Up To Something’.

The second generation of Mavin stars Rema & Crayon were joined by Korede Bello & DNA Twins for a hit single that showcases the label’s continuous evolution.

Rema entered the scene in 2019 with a sensational EP that captured mainstream attention. On ‘Lady’ he showed the makings of the superstar that he would later become.

Grammy-nominated singer Ayra Starr scored her major mainstream hit with ‘Bloody Samaritan’ off her debut album ’19 & Dangerous’. The single would position for global success as she settle into her role as Mavin Records First Lady.

In 2022, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Ladipoe, Boy Spyce, and Magixx combine for the hit anthem which restates Mavin’s status as Nigeria’s music foremost hit factory.

Rema’s global hit record ‘Calm Down’ is Afrobeats’ biggest export yet with the single positioning Mavin Records as a major player in the globalization of Nigerian and African music.

Here are 8 reasons every worker deserves a break

Going on leave is a vital aspect of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, supporting both personal well-being and professional performance.

Why leaves are important for every worker [BlogsMangoHoliday]

Here are several critical reasons why every worker should take advantage of their leave entitlements:

  1. Mental health rejuvenation: Continuous work without significant breaks can lead to stress and burnout, negatively affecting mental health. Taking time off allows employees to decompress, reduce stress, and return to work with renewed energy and a clearer mind.
  2. Physical health recovery: Sitting at a desk for long hours, repetitive tasks, and the general physical toll of daily work can contribute to health issues. Leave provides an opportunity to rest and recuperate, which is essential for maintaining long-term physical health.
  3. Increased productivity: Contrary to the belief that more hours worked equates to more productivity, the opposite is often true. Regular breaks in the form of leave can actually lead to higher productivity levels when employees are at work, as they are able to work more effectively with renewed focus and energy.
  4. Enhanced creativity: Time away from the workplace can also stimulate creativity. Exposure to new experiences and environments can inspire innovative ideas and perspectives that can be brought back to one’s job, potentially leading to better problem-solving and creativity in professional tasks.
  5. Improved job satisfaction: Employees who take leave tend to have higher job satisfaction, which can reduce turnover rates and improve morale within the workplace. Knowing that they can take time off when needed makes employees feel valued and supported by their employer.
  6. Quality time with loved ones: Work often takes a toll on personal relationships. Leave allows workers to spend quality time with family and friends, which is crucial for maintaining strong personal relationships and overall happiness.
  7. Personal development: Time off work can be used for personal growth activities such as learning a new skill, pursuing a hobby, or traveling. These activities can contribute to personal fulfillment and even enhance skills that are relevant to one’s job.
  8. Prevention of leave pile-up: In many organizations, not taking allocated leave can lead to a buildup of unused days, which can create scheduling conflicts and management issues. Using leave days as they are accrued ensures smoother operation and planning within teams.

By recognizing and promoting the importance of taking leave, organizations can support a healthier, more productive, and more satisfied workforce. It’s beneficial not only for the employees but for the organization as a whole.

Staying off social media for 1 week can have this wonderful benefit for you

Social media is especially dangerous for people with low self-esteem.

Women who quit social media had a better attitude towards their bodies [iStock]

Researchers from York University in Toronto conducted an analysis that showed that just a week of break from using social media can have a beneficial effect on young women’s self-esteem and positive attitude towards their bodies.

Participants who took part in the study observed significant improvement in their mental condition after a week.

Young women using social media notice that much of the content presents unattainable beauty standards: slim waists, round buttocks and slim legs. They know this, but they still strive to meet these high and often impossible beauty standards.

Women have to be perfectly slim, well-groomed and athletic, they should develop their passions and find fulfillment in their professional and private lives. Social media still pays less attention to those who present different canons of beauty or a different approach to life.

For a long time, psychologists have been warning that social media can lower self-esteem and cause low mood. They are especially dangerous for people with low self-esteem who constantly compare themselves to others. But now scientists have evidence for this.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="The mental condition of women who quit social media for one week improved significantly [Go Banking Rates]" src="data:;base64,” alt=”The mental condition of women who quit social media for one week improved significantly [Go Banking Rates]” width=”790″ height=”527″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/vW0ktkpTURBXy9kNmJlZWFhYjMyNWMxMWZmNmJkNTU5NDk3NzAxNjVhMC5wbmeSlQMAAM0D6M0Cm5UCzQMWzQIPwsM” />

Scientists from York University in Toronto decided to look at the phenomenon. In the study, which was published on the scientific website ScienceDirect, 66 female students were divided into two groups. One group used social media as normal, while the other had to give up social media for a week.

After a week off, women who quit social media had a better attitude towards their bodies. This effect was particularly strong among women who most strived for the ideal slim figure. Their mental condition has improved significantly.

Although owners of social media platforms have access to this type of publications, they do not take sufficient steps to improve the situation. Various fashions are still trending on social media, e.g. the “waist challenge,” which involves having a waist so slim that you can wrap it in one hand and drink water from a bottle in your hand; or “thigh gap,” which refers to slim legs with a clearly marked space between the thighs.

Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, announced in January that it would hide inappropriate content from teenagers – as long as they disclosed their real age.

However, regulations often fall short of their intended purpose, and analysis by Reset found that up to 30% of inappropriate content is removed. Reports also show that TikTok, which particularly attracts young people, removes this type of content the least.

World’s 100 most polluted cities are in the same continent — it’s not the 1 you think

Air pollution threatens the health of billions of people around the world.

Lack of access to fresh air may result in problems with the functioning of the respiratory system [Shutterstock]

According to a new report published on the IQAir website, the 100 most polluted cities in the world are located in the same continent.

As many as 83 cities are located in one country, where the air quality leaves much to be desired. Billions of people there do not have access to fresh air, which may result in problems with the functioning of the respiratory system and the development of many civilisation-related diseases.

The report by IQAir, a global organisation monitoring air quality, leaves no doubt – the 100 cities with the worst air pollution in the world in 2023 are in Asia.

Air pollution, which threatens the health of billions of people around the world, is directly related to the climate crisis.

The country that leads the inglorious ranking is India. 83 Indian cities exceeded World Health Organisation (WHO) air quality guidelines by more than 10 times.

“Air pollution affects every part of our lives. In some of the most polluted countries, it shortens people’s lives by three to six years,” commented IQAir Global CEO, Frank Hammes, on the results of the ranking.

At the top of the ranking of the most polluted cities in the world in 2023 was the city of Begusarai, with a population of half a million, in the northern Indian state of Bihar.

The average annual PM2.5 concentration there was 118.9 — 23 times higher than the WHO guidelines.

Across India, 96% of the population, or 1.3 billion people, live with air quality seven times above these guidelines.

According to an IQAir report, the human-made climate crisis, fueled by the burning of fossil fuels, plays a key role in shaping air pollution levels. It changes weather patterns, leading to changes in wind and rainfall, which affects the spread of pollutants.

The situation is worst in South Asia – 29 of the 30 most polluted cities are in India, Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Without major changes to energy infrastructure and agricultural practices, pollution levels in the region are unlikely to be reduced.

The most dangerous for the functioning of the human respiratory system is fine suspended dust PM2.5, which, when inhaled, can enter the bloodstream.

It may contribute to breathing difficulties, the development of asthma, heart and lung diseases, cancer and other respiratory diseases, and also cause cognitive impairment in children.

The five most polluted countries in 2023 are:

  1. Bangladesh (79.9 µg/m3) more than 15 times higher than the WHO annual guideline for PM2.5.
  2. Pakistan (73.7 µg/m3)  more than 14 times higher than the WHO annual guideline for PM2.5.
  3. India (54.4 µg/m3)  more than 10 times higher than the WHO annual guideline for PM2.5.
  4. Tajikistan (49.0 µg/m3)  more than 9 times higher than the WHO annual guideline for PM2.5.
  5. Burkina Faso (46.6 µg/m3)  more than 9 times higher than the WHO annual guideline for PM2.5.

Only seven countries met the WHO’s annual PM2.5 guidelines (annual average of 5 µg/m3 or less):

  1. Australia
  2. Estonia
  3. Finland
  4. Grenada
  5. Iceland
  6. Mauritius
  7. New Zealand

5 struggles of parents who have children with special needs

Parenting is a journey filled with joys and challenges, but for those raising children with special needs, the path often includes unique obstacles that can go unnoticed by the broader society.

Struggles of parents of children with special needs

While these parents display incredible resilience, the complexities they face daily are profound and multifaceted.

Here are five lesser-known struggles that these parents might face, often without much external recognition:

  • No social life

Raising a child with special needs often requires constant attention and care, which can severely limit parents’ ability to engage in social activities.

Many parents find their social circles shrinking as they devote more time to their child’s needs. The isolation can be intense, leading to feelings of loneliness and detachment from friends and community.

  • It is financially demanding

The financial impact of raising a child with special needs is significantly greater than that of raising typically developing children. Medical bills, therapies, special education, and adaptive technologies can create a substantial economic strain.

This financial burden is an ongoing challenge that affects family stability and future planning.

  • It hurts when their children are discriminated against

It is deeply hurtful for parents when others do not understand or are unkind to their child.

Whether it’s inconsiderate remarks or outright discrimination, these experiences can inflict emotional wounds, which are compounded by the struggle to protect their child from such negativity and foster a more accepting environment.

  • Concerns about expanding the family

The fear of having more children can be a significant concern, stemming from worries about the genetic likelihood of having another child with special needs or simply the ability to provide sufficient care and attention to more children.

This fear can influence family planning decisions and add an emotional strain to personal and marital relationships.

  • Challenges in finding romantic love

For single parents of children with special needs, entering the dating world presents additional hurdles.

The need for a partner who is understanding and accepting of both the child’s needs and the demands placed on the parent can make it difficult to find a compatible match.

This search for love and companionship, against the backdrop of parenting responsibilities, can be particularly daunting.

A call for empathy and support

Raising awareness about these struggles is the first step toward building a more supportive and empathetic society.

By acknowledging the challenges these parents face, we can foster a community that offers more substantial support, resources, and understanding.

For those who know someone navigating this path, simple gestures of help or a listening ear can make a meaningful difference.

10 poses to try with your girlfriend if she’s taller than you

Posing for photos when you’re shorter than your girlfriend can be fun and flattering with a few creative techniques.

Poses to try with your girlfriend if she's taller than you

These tips will help you find poses that either minimize the height difference or create an aesthetic that doesn’t focus on height at all. Here are some pose ideas that can make you appear taller or at least emphasize other aspects of your relationship:

  1. Stairs or elevated surfaces: Pose on a step or any elevated surface while your girlfriend stands one step below you. This can help balance the height difference subtly without making it obvious that you’re standing on something.
<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="Staircase pose" src="data:;base64,” alt=”Staircase pose” width=”319″ height=”318″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/YYrktkpTURBXy9hMzVhMzJjMTFiYjcwOGU4NzIxMjlkMmUwYjIyM2JiOS5qcGeRlQLNAT_NAT7Cww” />

2. Seated poses: Sitting down is a great equalizer when it comes to height. Sit on a bench, ledge, or chair with your girlfriend. You can have your girlfriend sit while you stand or kneel beside her, which might give the illusion of more height, especially if you are closer to the camera.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="Young couple sitting on bench in park" src="data:;base64,” alt=”Young couple sitting on bench in park” width=”790″ height=”527″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/tSNktkuTURBXy9jMTZjMDNjNC0yNWRkLTQyZWQtOTU2Zi1lYzg1MDdlNzUzYTguanBlZ5GVAs0DFs0CD8LD” />

3. Walking or action shots: Have a photo taken while walking together, with you slightly in front. The perspective can make you appear taller, especially if the photo is taken at a lower angle.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="young couple walking" src="data:;base64,” alt=”young couple walking” width=”790″ height=”527″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/kuHktkuTURBXy84NDQ5MzljZS0wY2I1LTQzYjQtYmE0OC0zODYxM2Q2YzY5NTIuanBlZ5GVAs0DFs0CD8LD” />

4. Lean or tilt: Ask your girlfriend to lean slightly towards you or tilt her head towards yours. This pose is not only sweet but also reduces height differences. You can enhance this effect by standing upright and stretching your torso.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="The lean pose" src="data:;base64,” alt=”The lean pose” width=”430″ height=”316″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/59aktkpTURBXy81MjRiMGE5ZmQ2OTlhZTkxOTg2OGQyMTc5ZDVjMzhkYS5qcGeRlQLNAa7NATzCww” />

Use perspective and angles: Play with camera angles. Have the photographer shoot from a lower angle, looking upwards, with you closer to the camera. This angle can make you appear taller relative to your girlfriend.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData" title="Low angle view of men and women in colorful suits [Image Credit: Clint Maliq]" src="data:;base64,” alt=”Low angle view of men and women in colorful suits [Image Credit: Clint Maliq]” width=”790″ height=”445″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/5NQktkpTURBXy84YTk3ZTFkNzY2MTY3MTY3MDQ2MmU0NjgwNWI2YjNmMi5qcGeRlQLNAxbNAb3Cww” />

Back-to-back: Standing back-to-back can be a stylish way to pose without emphasizing height. This pose is about connection and parity and looks great in photos.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="Back to back" src="data:;base64,” alt=”Back to back” width=”714″ height=”1170″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/TGrktkpTURBXy82MzM5NDYzYmExOGQ2MmMzNDMwMjk2ZTYwM2QwNWZhYy5qcGeRlQLNAsrNBJLCww” />

Foreground focus: Have yourself in the foreground and your girlfriend slightly in the background. This difference in depth can make you seem taller.

Creative blocking: Use elements of your surroundings to creatively alter perceived heights. For example, you can stand on a curb while your girlfriend stands off it, or use a sloped path where you stand higher naturally.

Hugging or embracing: When you hug or embrace, heights become less noticeable. A pose where you’re embracing your girlfriend from behind or wrapping your arms around each other can shift the focus from height to the closeness of your relationship.

<img class="image lazyloaded imgWithMetaData aligncenter" title="A couple hugging" src="data:;base64,” alt=”A couple hugging” width=”790″ height=”1185″ data-original=”https://ocdn.eu/pulscms-transforms/1/DHpktkpTURBXy81YjJjYmQ3MTAyZjgzMWNhODkwMmRmNzQxZDg4MzMzZi5qcGeRlQLNAxbNBKHCww” />

Have fun and be confident: Ultimately, confidence shines in photos. Enjoy the moment and focus on the connection with your girlfriend rather than the height difference. A genuine smile and relaxed posture make any photo better.

Using these tips, you can create flattering and creative photos that focus on your relationship and dynamics rather than height differences.

Biden Says U.S. Will Stop Arms Shipments If Israel Invades Rafah

The president’s remarks represent a firm break with Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, though it’s a break his progressive critics will say came far too late.

The United States will stop supplying offensive weaponry to the Israelis if the country goes through with a planned invasion of the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, President Joe Biden said on Wednesday, a signal that he is willing to put conditions on aid to Israel for the first time and that he’s reached a major break with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden said during an interview with CNN, acknowledging the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians during the war launched in retaliation for Hamas’ massacre of Israelis and taking of hostages on Oct. 7.

“I made it clear that if they go into Rafah ― they haven’t gone in Rafah yet ― if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities,” Biden said.

Biden, long a staunch and unquestioning supporter of Israel, has come under intense pressure from Democrats to finally place conditions on military aid to the country, which has been accused of war crimes and has been deemed at risk of committing genocide in its attacks on the Palestinian enclave of Gaza. Biden said the U.S. would continue to provide for Israel’s defense, as it did when it assisted the country against an attack from Iran last month.

“We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently,” he said, adding, “We’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells.”

Rafah, where 1 million displaced Palestinians are sheltering, is one of the last remaining safe zones in the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian groups fear a full-on Israeli invasion of the city would result in mass civilian deaths.

“I’ve made it clear to Bibi [Netanyahu] and the war cabinet: They’re not going to get our support if in fact they go on these population centers,” said Biden, who spoke to Netanyahu on Monday.

Israel has characterized the southern Gaza city as the militant group Hamas’ last stronghold. Israeli tanks moved into part of Rafah on Tuesday, seizing the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. Israeli officials described it as a limited operation in response to a Hamas rocket attack that killed four Israeli troops just outside Gaza on Sunday.

But the Israeli incursion and an evacuation order to 100,000 Rafah residents have prompted a stricter line from the Biden administration, which fears the consequences of a broader Israeli invasion of the city.

News of delayed weapon shipments to Israel first arrived this weekend, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed the reports at a congressional hearing Wednesday. So far, the administration has delayed transferring 2,000-pound and 500-pound explosives.

Austin faced his share of tough questions and comments from Republican senators about the decision.

“This is obscene. It is absurd,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) remarked during the hearing. “Give Israel what they need to fight the war. They can’t afford to lose. This is Hiroshima and Nagasaki on steroids.”

Biden worked closely with Senate Republicans and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to pass a $95 billion supplemental foreign aid bill in late April that includes $26.4 billion in aid to Israel and $1 billion for humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

The White House has assured Republican leaders that none of the delayed weapon shipments are part of the assistance allotted in the supplemental bill.

But Johnson and Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) sent a joint letter to Biden on Wednesday expressing discontent about hearing of the arms delay first in the press, and about the nature of the delay itself.

“We believe that security assistance to Israel is an urgent priority that must not be delayed,” McConnell and Johnson wrote.

Biden’s decision to use U.S. military aid as leverage to shape Israeli policy is the culmination of months of tension building with Netanyahu. The administration has gone from insisting that Israel present a realistic plan for ensuring the safety of civilians in Rafah in the event that they invade the city to arguing more openly that it sees a full-scale invasion as inherently incompatible with its humanitarian concerns.

The dust-up over Rafah also takes place against the backdrop of hostage negotiations between Israel and Hamas in which the U.S., Egypt and Qatar have played active roles. Israel this week rejected a counter-offer from Hamas but has said it would keep negotiating.

Domestic pressure is mounting on Netanyahu to strike a deal that secures the return of as many hostages held by Hamas as possible. Family members of hostages were among the thousands of Israelis who marched in Tel Aviv on Saturday demanding that Netanyahu reach an agreement.

At the same time, Netanyahu’s coalition government depends on the support of far-right parties led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Those parties have threatened to collapse Netanyahu’s government if he does not invade Rafah.

In his remarks at a Holocaust remembrance event on Sunday, Netanyahu suggested that he is prepared to defy the United States.

“If Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone,” he declared.

6 sweet things you can do for your girlfriend this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a special occasion to celebrate all the wonderful women in our lives, including girlfriends who are mothers or maternal figures in their own right.

Sweet things you can do for your girlfriend this Mother's Day[Adobe Stock]

Here are some thoughtful and sweet ideas to make your girlfriend feel appreciated and cherished on this day:

  1. Introduce her to your mother: If she hasn’t already met your mother, arranging a meeting can be a wonderful gesture. It shows that you’re serious about your relationship and that you want the important people in your life to know each other.

Plan a casual meet-up like brunch or afternoon tea where they can get to know each other in a relaxed setting.

2. Discuss future plans: Take this opportunity to share your thoughts and plans for the future with her. Whether it’s plans for upcoming trips, moving in together, or your aspirations as a couple, let her know that she’s a significant part of your future. This can make her feel secure and valued in the relationship.

  1. Write a letter of appreciation: Put pen to paper and write down all the things you appreciate about her. It could be her kindness, her sense of humor, how she makes you feel, or her qualities as a mother or mother figure. Make it personal and heartfelt. You can either mail it to her as a surprise or hand it to her over a romantic dinner.
  2. Acknowledge her maternal qualities: Whether or not she has children, recognizing her nurturing qualities can be deeply meaningful. Tell her what makes her a great maternal figure or potential mother. Acknowledging these traits shows that you appreciate her caring and loving nature.
  3. Cook a special meal for her: Whether it’s breakfast in bed, a fancy dinner, or her favorite dessert, cooking for her is a gesture of love and care.

Try to make something that she really enjoys or has been craving. Set the table nicely, light candles, and create a pleasant dining atmosphere.

4. Plan a relaxing day: Organize a day that’s all about relaxation and pampering. It could be a spa day at home with homemade face masks and a bath, or you could book a professional spa treatment. The goal is to make her feel relaxed and pampered.

5. Create a memory book: Put together a scrapbook that includes photos, tickets, and other memorabilia from the time you’ve spent together. It’s a thoughtful way to reminisce about your relationship and the special moments you’ve shared.

6. Take part in her favorite activity: Whether she loves hiking, painting, or something else, actively participating in her favorite hobby shows that you care about her interests. It can be a fun way to spend quality time together and enjoy new experiences.

Each of these ideas is designed to show your appreciation and affection for your girlfriend on Mother’s Day. The key is to make her feel special and loved, highlighting the importance of her role in your life, whether she is a mother or not.

Why tolerating your partner’s cheating is a huge mistake

Why tolerating your partner’s cheating is a huge mistake

Cheating on a spouse is the ultimate form of betrayal. It destroys trust, which is the very core of any loving relationship.

Unfortunately, we have rarely observed couples who have successfully rebuilt their relationship after infidelity. They may stick to the notion that “once a cheater, always a cheater.”

By nature, those who engage in infidelity are dishonest, disloyal, and lack moral strength within the relationship, so rebuilding trust is a nearly impossible task. Why? Because cheating in marriage fractures a wholesome, successful, and enduring relationship at its very foundation.

Infidelity destroys most relationships where it’s present, make no mistake about that. Here’s the blunt bottom line: there are NO excuses for infidelity. And there’s no excuse for accepting it from your partner. It’s an absolute deal-breaker — the first time, the second time, or anytime. Cheating on the one you love is the most unpardonable of all sins.

When a spouse or lover violates the “core of trust” or the “bond of faith” in the relationship, the very heart of that relationship has likely been destroyed. Loving someone for a lifetime doesn’t occur by accident.

To keep love alive and thriving, both partners must do simple things, day in and day out, that nurture their relationship. In other words, you cannot betray the one you love and expect your marriage or relationship to survive happily.

It pains our hearts to see couples embrace the values of the Desperate Housewives, thinking it’s okay to cheat on a loved one and everything will be fine afterward. It drives an arrow through our hearts to think that there are people engaged in a loving relationship who think betrayal is an offense for which there’s forgiveness.

The ultimate betrayal of the one you say you love is an unrecoverable act. Writers, therapists, counselors, and psychologists who suggest otherwise are not only fooling themselves, they’re misleading those they claim to want to help.

There’s rarely EVER an authentic recovery from a relationship poisoned by cheating, betrayal, infidelity, and disloyalty. Those who have been successfully married for years know this is true. Don’t be misled.

“Character” in marriage is real (and it matters!). To suggest otherwise is to ignore the basic tenets of successful relationships. Being honest and trustworthy is at the heart of all the best loving relationships we have studied.

Those couples trust each other with their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. The damage done by breaking that trust is just too great. The relationship will never be the same. So, we’re saying that when it comes to the topic of cheating in marriage, “the buck stops here.” Cheating is a deal-breaker.

From “Girl Dinner” To Everyone’s Favorite “Feel Better Soup,” These Are All The Most Viral Recipes Of 2023

There was no shortage of food trends in 2023 — even if you had no idea some of these even existed.

Sometimes it feels like just yesterday we were all sitting in our homes whipping up Dalgona coffee and feeding our sourdough starters. Then we blinked, it was suddenly almost 2024, and we’ve yet again wrapped up another year of new food trends. So in the spirit of reminiscing, we wanted to bring you all the foods and recipes that we believe defined 2023, whether you loved them, hated them, or have never even heard of them. With that being said, here’s what was all over our For You Pages this year — in no particular order:

1. Cottage Cheese (In Everything)

the author holding up a spoonful of cottage cheese ice cream

2. Lemon Possets

@nurhkasim / Via tiktok.com

Touted for being an easy dessert with minimal ingredients, lemon possets blew up over the spring and summer. Possets actually originated as an English drink often made with warmed milk, curdled with alcohol and spices.Today, we know them to be the fun custard dessert often served in aesthetically pleasing hollowed-out lemon shells. And if you want to make ’em yourself, all it takes is heavy cream, sugar, lemon juice and zest, and vanilla. Personally, I think it’d also be fun to try this with different types of citrus since it’s a great (and easy) way to be introduced to homemade custard.

3. Upside Down Puff Pastry Tarts

4. Çilbir (Turkish Eggs)

@gilliehouston / Via tiktok.com

Though this simple Turkish dish has been around forever, it became the “it” egg dish and brunch recipe of choice in 2023. With a base of garlicky yogurt (or labneh), runny poached eggs, warmly spiced olive oil, and a smattering of fresh herbs, Turkish eggs made the rounds across social platforms in a truly inspiring way.If you haven’t yet tried Çilbir, this is your sign to do so — just serve with plenty of crusty bread for mopping up all that lusciously zingy yogurt.

5. Girl Dinner

@liviemaher / Via tiktok.com

Girl dinner has to be the most controversial, yet relatable, trend we’ve seen this year. The meals ranged from snack plates with a semi-charcuterie vibe to buttered noodles to just a simple bowl of popcorn. The trend started with creator Olivia Maher, who showed off her “girl dinner” of a glass of wine, a few grapes, bread, and a block of butter.From there, a trend (and VERY popular sound) was created. But it didn’t come without criticism. BuzzFeed writer Natasha Jokic spoke to a few dietitians who called out the potentially problematic messaging of showing seemingly low-nutrition foods and labeling them as “girl dinner.”

But some praised it for showing the realistic side of FoodTok when you don’t have the time or energy to cook. And, TBH, as a lunch hater, a loaded snack plate sounds kinda perfect.

6. Chopped Italian Sandwiches

author holding a sandwich on a toasted sub roll with various chopped Italian sandwich ingredients inside

7. French Yogurt Cake (Gateâu au Yaourt)

@condimentclaire / Via tiktok.com

Gateâu au yaourt is a classic French recipe and was popularized on TikTok by the one and only Condiment Claire. The beauty of this cake is that it uses the magic of ratios to measure everything out with whatever yogurt pot you have on hand. There’s no fancy method involved either: Everything gets dumped in one bowl (sometimes in no particular order) and mixed together.The result? A super moist snacking cake that’s as perfect for breakfast as it is for dessert. My mom (Claudia, here!) has been making this since I was a kid — she adds some orange zest which I’d highly recommend. It always comes out flawless.

8. Ice Cream Fruit Roll-Ups

9. Frozen Yogurt Bars

@kaylaskitchandfix / Via tiktok.com

There was just something about homemade frozen desserts during the summer that had everyone in a chokehold. The original version of these frozen yogurt bars came from @kaylaskitchandfix, who created one with a mix of yogurt, peanut butter, chocolate chips, protein powder, and a magic chocolate shell.Similar to the influx of cottage cheese desserts, the “protein-ified” aspect of it all appealed to a lot of people — 4 million to be exact. And once that video went viral, other home cooks were inclined to make their own. Some stuck to Kayla’s original peanut butter-chocolate combo, and others created fruit-filled versions.

10. Big Mac Smashed Tacos

11. Diet Coke “Recipes”

@hauskris / Via tiktok.com

If you’re not crafting a personalized recipe to obtain the crispiest Diet Coke ever — and yes, crispy is the only adjective to use here — you’re doing it all wrong. We reached peak Diet Coke in 2023, mostly thanks to Diet Coke fanatic and TikToker @hauskris, who inspired countless others to settle for nothing less than the coldest, crispiest, most refreshing Diet Cokes every time they prepared for a DC break.The ingredients:

 Super cold can of Diet Coke

 Pellet ice

 Frozen glass

 Frozen limes

• packet of crystallized lime juice

• Glass straw

(Sorry, no substitutes here, folks! Thank you for understanding!)

12. WaterTok

13. Hwachae (Cold Korean Fruit Bowls)

@amyflamy1 / Via tiktok.com

The only food item that came close to chamoy pickles’ reign on the mukbang side of TikTok was hwachae, a milky Korean “punch” of sorts. Traditionally, it’s served in a bowl with vibrant mix-ins, from Sprite to fruit, and served over ice with a spoon for slurping it all up.TikToker @amyflamy1‘s video with over 16 million views is the TikTok that launched a thousand (very tasty!) imitations. In the video, shown above, she orders the cold fruit bowl after waking up “severely dehydrated,” and it didn’t take long before other creators followed in her footsteps. Spoiler alert: The bowls and spoons eventually became…comically large.

14. Potato Chip Omelets (from The Bear)

15. Chamoy Pickle Kits

@OrianaASMR / Via tiktok.com

If you’re not as neck-deep in all things #PickleTok as I am, this one will require some explanation. First: spicy pickles. Second: chamoy, which is a popular, sweet-and-spicy Mexican condiment that TikTokers cannot get enough of. Third, fourth, fifth, and so on: the toppings, which usually include a mixture of Takis, sour candy, Tajín, tamarind, and anything candy-adjacent you could dream up.TikTokers hollow out the core of the pickle with a spoon, stuff it to the brim with various toppings, occasionally even wrapping it in Fruit by the Foot, and crunch. Mukbang videos of people tasting them are fascinating, deliciously gruesome, and absolutely everywhere; like, the #chamoypickle hashtag on TikTok has over 1.5 billion views.

Anyway! Santa, if you’re reading this, I’m clearly hoping for a chamoy pickle kit in my Christmas stocking this year. 🤞 (This is Ross, BTW.)

16. Feta Eggs

feta eggs being cooked, and served in a tortilla

17. Grated Frozen Fruit

@littlefatboyfrankie / Via tiktok.com

In case you can’t tell, TikTok loves its easy desserts. This one involved freezing whole fruits and grating them for a kind of DIY sorbet. The simplest of recipes called for the frozen fruit of your choice, grated and mixed with lime or lemon juice. Others, like creator Frank Gaw, took to making their own shaved ice, adding toppings like condensed milk and nuts.Some more versions include a “peaches and cream” iteration and even a savory frozen tomato version served with a ball of burrata.

18. Two-Ingredient Watermelon Sorbet

19. Date Bark

@georginaburgess_ / Via tiktok.com

Originally created by @thathealthjunkie, date bark gained its popularity as a sort of “healthier” dessert, with many users comparing it to a Snickers bar. This isn’t the first time dates have had their moment of internet fame — past viral recipes include date caramel and the more classic stuffed dates.This new date trend recipe consisted of smashing dates on a parchment-lined tray, covering them with melted peanut butter, nuts, and chocolate, then freezing the whole thing for a take on chocolate bark.

20. Pastina

bowl of pastina with cheese, black pepper, and olive oil

21. Trying Natto

@sydwingold / Via tiktok.com

It was impossible to scroll through TikTok at the beginning of the year without stumbling upon a video of someone trying natto. For those who don’t know, natto is a Japanese dish that consists of fermented soybeans. In their videos, users would show themselves opening a styrofoam container, taking off a plastic film from the beans, pouring the accompanied sauces (usually soy sauce and mustard), and “frothing” the beans to create the signature sticky texture.While a lot of these videos were met with pretty visceral reactions, many creators, like @sanguyenn and @shannahmau, thankfully jumped on to educate TikTok on how they enjoy natto (usually served with a helping of rice, more sauces, and sometimes seaweed).

22. Brazilian Lemonade

author holding a glass of brazilian lemonade

23. Nature’s Gatorade

@clairethenutritionist / Via tiktok.com

“Nature’s Gatorade” (also called switchel or haymaker’s punch) isn’t necessarily new — it was often used by farmers to keep hydrated while working long hours in the heat. But, like many old recipes, this one made its rounds on TikTok and was especially praised by nutritionists for being packed with electrolytes.The ingredients are also pretty minimal: just maple syrup, ginger water (made by steeping ginger root in simmering water), apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. It definitely doesn’t taste like Gatorade, but it sure has received a lot of positive reviews.

24. Pizza Fries

@doraymie / Via tiktok.com

Although they saw short-lived fame at the beginning of the year, pizza fries were one of those food trends you were either horrified by or needed to try immediately. The original video seems to have come from @doraymie‘s “birthday pizza fries” which racked up 14.5 million views.Written recipes for this don’t really exist, but if I had to guess, I’d say all it takes is some frozen fries, cheese, and pepperoni. The cheesy topping gets baked separately from the fries and dumped on top to reveal what is probably every kid’s dream birthday dinner.

Are there any food trends you want to see more of (or maybe even less of) in 2024? Let us know in the comments!

How to get back into dating after a long-term relationship crumbles

How to get back into dating after a long-term relationship crumbles

Being single again after a years-long relationship can be weird, to say the least. It may seem like, one minute, you have a steady cuddle buddy to spoon with every night, and the next, you’re painfully aware of how big your bed feels now that you’re the only one in it.

And let’s be honest—your flirting skills might be a little rusty, making the thought of striking up a conversation with a cute stranger all the more intimidating.

Getting over a breakup is hard work, and even after you’ve moved past the grief and sadness, there are still other challenges that come with reentering the dating scene, Patrice Le Goy, PhD, LMFT, a Los Angeles–based couples therapist, tells SELF.

“You might feel insecure about how dating works, or have the fear of being intimate with a new person,” Dr. Le Goy says. “It can also feel awkward, or like you’re ‘cheating,’ when you share or do things with someone new after you’ve had a long-term partner.”

But when you’re finally feeling ready—excited even—to get back out there and explore your options, these pointers can make the transition feel a little more natural (and a lot less scary).

1. Make sure you’re actually ready to date again.

Signing up for dating apps with the sole purpose of making your ex jealous, say, or to avoid sleeping alone might not be the best idea. Because when you’re motivated by revenge or a fear of loneliness (rather than genuine interest or curiosity), it’s pretty damn hard to be emotionally available, which is necessary if you’re serious about moving on or even just having fun, Dr. Le Goy says.

So before you swipe right or agree to that blind date with your sibling’s cute coworker, check in with yourself to make sure you’re really ready to get back out there.

“Some signs include not feeling the need to constantly discuss and dissect your previous relationship,” Dr. Le Goy says. “This shows you’re not harbouring any lasting resentment or regrets that can linger into a new relationship.”

Another good indicator is just being excited to meet people—even if they don’t end up being “the one.” That means you’re open to exploring new connections, which is healthy “as long as you’re not relying on someone else to make you happy or fill a void,” Dr. Le Goy says. (Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment and putting unnecessary pressure on yourself and them.)

2. Think of dating as a learning opportunity—not just a way to replace your ex.

There’s a common misconception that dating is solely about finding a new partner or even just a fling for casual, fun sex. But you can still get something out of the experience—other than someone to move in (or just sleep) with, Gabriela Reyes, LMFT, a couples therapist at Coral Gables Counseling Center in Coral Gables, Florida, tells SELF.

Rather than having a specific end goal in mind, Reyes suggests a little perspective shift: “Opening yourself up to dating can put you in the headspace of, ‘I’m going to meet some cool people. Some of them are going to be a fun story to tell my friends later, and maybe one will be my next love interest, and I’m okay with both of those,’” she says,

So even if there’s no romantic spark, think of it this way: Maybe you’ve gained a new friend who shares your passion for watching professional tennis. Or you walked out of that awkward cafe meetup having discovered the perfect work-from-home spot. Seeing dating as an opportunity to experience and learn new things can make it fun—no matter how well (or poorly) the date itself goes.

3. Start with low-pressure date activities that you’d enjoy doing solo.

Unless you’re a gourmet food critic, that fine-dining French restaurant you’ve never been to probably isn’t the best place to feel relaxed with someone who’s basically a stranger. “First dates don’t have to be extravagant or out of your comfort zone,” Reyes says. “People always think they have to go out to a crowded bar, for example, even if they’re not the type of person to enjoy those things.”

To make an already unnerving situation a little less intimidating, stick to what you’re already comfortable with. “If you’re a foodie, go out to eat at the restaurants you would recommend to a friend,” Reyes suggests.

Or, if bookstores are your happy place, maybe sip tea in the cozy cafe inside Barnes & Noble (or an indie shop you love) and chat in the fiction aisle together. Being somewhere familiar can help you feel safer and more at ease during what’s probably a new and uncertain experience, she adds.

4. Don’t let one bad apple spoil your dating fun.

No matter how thorough you are in screening for red flags and making sure your Friday night dinner companion seems alright, chances are you’ll still experience at least one date from hell (like that jerk who made a fat joke or showed up an hour late). But as tempting as it is to call it quits for good, don’t throw in the towel just yet.

“Go into the dating process by trying to recognize that there are really wonderful people out there—and there are really shitty, awful ones too,” Reyes says. “Because realistically, your experiences might not all be good. They may be exhausting and leave you thinking of your ex more than ever.”

Acknowledging that not every encounter will be rom-com worthy can help you set realistic expectations and prevent you from being blindsided or discouraged, Dr. Le Goy adds. Besides, even a terrible date can teach you about your deal-breakers (like someone who’s always on their phone, perhaps)—which, on the bright side, gets you one step closer to finding someone who ticks all your boxes.

5. Try not to compare your dates to your past relationship.

It’s tempting to tally up all your ex’s pros and cons and weigh them against your next potential partner. Well, this person looks like my ex, but they’re not quite as tall. Or, They’re ambitious like my ex, but don’t seem as far along in their career.

Playing the compare and contrast game is just going to make it harder to meet “the one,” who might bring different, yes, but still amazing qualities to the table, Dr. Le Goy says.

“It’s helpful to consider the good and challenging parts of your previous relationship in order to decide what’s best for you going forward,” she adds.

But that means reflecting on whether or not you want someone who has a gruelling work schedule like your last partner, for example, or if you’d do long-distance again—not dismissing someone just because they’re not texting you as frequently, say, or don’t show up with chocolates like your ex. Otherwise, you’re just going to be anchored in the past—and isn’t moving on what you’re aiming for?

6. Prepare a little cheat sheet of conversation sparkers on your phone’s notes app.

When you’ve been with who you thought was your soulmate for years, conversations just flow naturally—whether it’s the boring details of your day or those deep, late-night talks about your life goals and dreams. It’s no wonder, then, that keeping the small talk going with someone completely new can be uncomfortable.

“First dates can be really nerve-wracking, and you might not feel like yourself in those moments,” Reyes says. To avoid drawing a complete blank, it can be helpful to come up with a few topics and questions for the person you’re seeing, by either making a mental list or jotting them down on your notes app. The goal isn’t to grill your date like it’s a formal interview. Actually, this list is for you—to discover what you genuinely want to know and prioritize for your next potential romance or fling, she says.

So for example, if you love to travel, ask them about their favorite country they’ve visited or their dream vacation. Or if you’re a major Swiftie and pop culture nerd, casually bring up the Eras tour or the latest Bachelor drama to see if they share your enthusiasm.

It’s normal to default to topics like the weather or their weekend plans (especially if you’re nervous), but if small talk doesn’t feel natural to you, Reyes suggests skipping it. “You really want to go in there feeling like you’re being genuine, like you’re being yourself, because you want to attract the kind of person that likes the real you,” Reyes adds.

7. Remember that it’s okay to be honest.

Speaking of authenticity, you don’t have to pretend like you’re single and ready to mingle if, in reality, you’re in total panic mode. “It’s perfectly fine to own that feeling and tell a date that you’re new to this scene and not totally comfortable,” Dr. Le Goy says. “That’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

Being upfront can actually be a win-win: They might appreciate your honesty and feel better knowing why you’re so quiet or standoffish (and hey—maybe they’re kind of anxious too!). Keeping it real can also help you relax a little, without the pressure of keeping up a façade, she adds. Plus, if you can’t be yourself with someone, what’s the point?

Are you actually afraid of love? 2 big fears that keep you single

Fear is a funny thing. When you’re in a scary situation — say you’re confronted by a bear—it’s easy to know what you’re feeling. You’re afraid. And, you know that what’s causing the fear is a very definite threat to your physical well-being. Fear has a purpose — to keep you safe.

You want to get the heck away from that bear as fast as possible. And, fear compels you to take action. When it comes to relationships, fear is a bit harder to identify. You’re not exactly sweating bullets and fearing for your life. You probably don’t have such a strong visceral response.

But, the fear is just as valid. We’ve found that relationship-based fears (some call it “fear of intimacy”) tend to come in two flavours. And, both serve the same purpose: to keep you safe. Unfortunately, they also keep you from having a close, loving relationship.

Are you afraid of love? Here are 2 big fears that keep you single:

1. Fear of being abandoned

This one is familiar to most people. Being in a committed, loving relationship involves taking risks. Fully knowing another and creating intimacy, requires vulnerability. The minute you commit to someone and share love with them, you also open yourself to the risk of being left.

It’s a very scary premise — that you can let someone into your heart only to have the relationship not work out.

The threat here is clear: it’s the pain of heartbreak. This threat is especially terrifying if you’ve been looking for the “real deal” for a long time and can’t bear the thought of another relationship not working out. This is fear’s way of keeping you safe — if you don’t get too close, there’s nothing to fear (or so we tell ourselves).

2. Fear of being smothered

As much as you may genuinely want a lasting, loving relationship, part of you might be afraid that having such a relationship is going to take away your freedom. The common “other half” mentality leads to fears about getting into a relationship — by suggesting that we are each somehow incomplete until we find a partner, we might feel that we have to compromise a great deal.

Being single comes with a lot of freedom — you get to decide what to do with your time and what your priorities are. The perspective of a close relationship presents another kind of threat: the potential loss of individuality, autonomy, and personal space.

Fear of being abandoned and being smothered shows up in a lot of ways. Sometimes people are very picky about a mate, or they check out the whole dating process altogether. Others create unnecessary expectations for relationships or inadvertently stir up tension in a relationship when they do get into one.

And here’s the kicker: these two fears tend to take hold of us at the same time. We genuinely want a relationship, but we’re also equally afraid of being left AND of losing ourselves. No wonder why finding a great partner and creating a healthy relationship feels like a shot in the dark.

But, once you dissolve these fears, you unshackle yourself from their effects. And then, love will start flowing your way so fast, you won’t want to stop it. Once you free yourself from fear, you attract lasting love.

We both struggled with fears of abandonment and being smothered before we met each other (over 30 years ago), and these fears still crept in after we got together. But, because we were both deeply interested in relationships, we discovered how we could keep these fears from interfering in our lives. That’s a big part of the reason why our marriage works.

Relationship fears are often inherited — we learned them during our childhoods, and they’ve followed us into our adult years. And, there’s nothing like love or the prospect of it to trigger these fears at the deepest level.

Once you identify your fears and resolve them at a deep level, you create a shift that sets in motion exactly what you’ve been craving: a fearless relationship brimming with limitless joy, connection, and passion. There’s no need to fear being left or being trapped in a relationship.

When you’re finally in the right relationship, you’ll know what it’s like to feel completely safe. You’ll be able to feel a close connection with your mate while maintaining your individuality — honoring yourself and each other. It’s a delicious feeling like no other.
