Nollywood actor and stand-up comedian, Ayodeji Richard Makun popularly known as AY has boldly celebrated the son of his biggest rival and colleague Bright Okpocha simply known as Basketmouth as he clocks 16 today.

A few minutes ago Kemi Filani reported that a proud Basketmouth shared lovely photos of himself and his son’s growth into his teenage years to adore and welcome him into a memorable 16th birthday.

The father of four declared today as a public holiday for his son who is a king. He also noted that his first son is his everything.

Basketmouth wrote with the photos on his Instagram page, “On this day, 16yrs ago…a king was born. In actual fact, May 9th should be declared a public holiday. Hold on let me talk to the Federal Government. This is totally wrong.

Happy Birthday Jason, you’re my everything! Wishing you a happy and memorable birthday. Love you son.”

Ayo Makun followed suit in bold manner. He took to Basketmouth’s timeline to celebrate his son.

The father of two wished Jason happiness on his birthday and prayed that God’s grace will continue to light his path and guide him to a future filled with contentment.

“Happy birthday, Jason . May God’s grace continue to light your path, guiding you towards a future filled with success and contentment.”

It is no news that Basketmouth and AY have a rivalry that runs deep.

Kemi Filani recalls that Ayo Makun disclosed what transpired between himself and Basketmouth in 20065-@6 led to their beef.

In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the father of two went down memory lane and recounted that events that led to their drama. He mentioned the drama on Basketmouth’s wedding, how he was cancelled in any show that the latter is appearing for and many more.

However, in a podcast with the Honest Bunch crew, Basketmouth disclosed claimed he had never had any close or personal relationship with AY.

He also disclosed that he came in contact with AY through comedy king, Ali Baba, and he had never mentored him before.

Basketmouth claimed something else, which he will not disclose, happened between him and AY, and no client was involved in their feud.

The father of three alleged that AY was using lies about their feud to promote his upcoming show, stating that it is his usual style.

Vaccination can reduce risk of cervical cancer – Medical experts.

A consultant physician with the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, KSPHCDA, Dr Mary Onoja Alexander has advised that early detection will help prevent cervical cancer among women in Nigeria.

Onoja called attention to the menace of the disease on Tuesday in Lokoja during a media dialogue on Cervical cancer and Human Papillomavirus, HPV, vaccine introduction organized by John-Stow International, JSI).

The Physician lamented the prevalence of cervical cancer among women in Nigeria, saying that the intake of the vaccine will help stabilize the immune system to fight the virus in the body.

“HPV vaccine protects against certain types of cancer caused by human papillomavirus. It works by stimulating the body’s immune system to produce antibodies against the human papillomavirus.

”When a person receives the vaccine, their immune system recognizes the viral proteins in the vaccine and produces a response that protects against HPV infections”.

“Australia, Canada, USA have made cervical cancer vaccine a routine. But in Africa, it is not the same. The environment is a major factor in this deadly disease. That is why we are saying that vaccination is the safest way to prevent cervical cancer in Africa”.

Earlier in his presentation, the Social Behavioral Change Focal Person for John-Stow International, JSI, Kannah Terri Ibrahim said in 2020, over 600,000 Women were affected by cervical cancer worldwide.

Out of this figure, more than 50 percent lost their lives. Those diagnosed with cervical cancer according to research were women living in developing countries like Nigeria,” he stated.

Ibrahim emphasized that the organization is kick-starting the second phase of the vaccine in which Kogi State happen to be one of the beneficiary states.

“We started this campaign in 2023. 16 States benefitted from this vaccination campaign and now Kogi State will join other states to benefit. Our target are girls between the ages of 9 to 14 years of age.

“We will be engaging stakeholders such as traditional rulers, religious leaders, schools, out-of-school girls, community engagement, (hard to reach areas) to ensure effective implementation of this vaccines in Kogi State and Nigeria in general,” he added.

According to him, the media plays a vital role in the implementation of the vaccines across the state, saying they are expected to help to counter any misconception concerning the vaccine.

Kemi Filani recalls that one of Portable’s multiple baby mama, Ashabi disclosed she is unbothered by Portable’s ways of flaunting his wives on social media. She consoled herself with the fact that the singer already had multiple baby mamas before her.

She admitted that though she isn’t his favorite, he still shows love for her, and his concern speaks for itself. She revealed that she wasn’t even expecting anything closer to this.

Controversial Nigerian street singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has expressed his desire to credit a fan’s account following his grand show of love to him.

The fan, in a joint post with Portable, had showed off the tattoo he made of the singer on his back. The male fan had inked the singer’s face on his back. In the post, the fan had a picture of Portable replicated for the tattoo as well as the ink of the drawing that was done.

In his comment section, Portable thanked the fan for the grand gesture, calling him his brotherhood. He also asked for his account number, hinting at sending money to him.

In a viral report that has surprised many, a bride cancels her wedding just a few days before D-day as her husband-to-be fails to raise N30K to give her for her desired wedding gown and move out of his parent’s house.

According to the reports, the wedding was meant to be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. in Faarin Lamba, Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau Stated.

It was gathered that the bride known as Florence Friday requested for N30K from her groom-to-be, Morgak James, on the 28th of March 2024 to book for her desired wedding gown.

However, the groom was only able to raise N15K and promised to give her the rest the following week.

The bride-to-be flared up over this and threatened to cancel the wedding over this.

Morgak was able to get the N30,000 two days later, and he delivered it to Florence so that the reservation could be made. But this decision resulted in an additional request from his future wife.
After gathering direct information, a media outlet said that Florence asked Morgak to move out of his family home and into an apartment.

Following a long argument, they decided to stay in the family home for two months following the wedding before moving into an apartment of their own. Prior to Morgak making the introductions, signing the church documents, and paying the bride price, this arrangement was reached.

However, Morgak was shocked a few days before the big day when he got a call informing him that his fiancée had canceled the wedding because she had refused to leave his family house.

Shareholders of Zenith Bank Plc Wednesday approved the proposed final dividend payment of N3.50 per share, bringing the total dividend for the 2023 financial year…

Shareholders of Zenith Bank Plc Wednesday approved the proposed final dividend payment of N3.50 per share, bringing the total dividend for the 2023 financial year to N4.00 per share, with a total value of N125.59 billion.

This is the highest dividend payout by any bank, the bank stated.

This was the major highlight of the 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank, Dr Jim Ovia, thanked the shareholders for their unflinching support and loyalty to the Zenith brand, saying this had been instrumental to the bank’s consistent superior performance.

The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, thanked Ovia for his mentorship in the last five years while he served as CEO, which he attributed to his success, saying the chairman had provided the pedestal for the bank’s continued superior performance.

He said, “As I prepare to pass the baton to Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji, I am confident in the bank’s trajectory under her leadership. I would like to express my profound gratitude to our founder and Chairman, Dr Jim Ovia, CFR, and to the board, shareholders, customers and staff for their steadfast support throughout my tenure. I earnestly request that you extend the same level of support to my successor. It has been a remarkable journey, and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together. As I commence the mandatory regulatory cooling-off period, I am filled with optimism for Zenith Bank’s future, assured that we are on the path to even greater success.”

National Coordinator of the Pragmatic Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mrs Bisi Bakare, said, “We the shareholders are very pleased today to receive a final dividend of N3.50 kobo from Zenith Bank.

“Following an interim dividend of 50 kobo paid last December, the total dividend for the 2023 Annual General Meeting amounts to N4.00 – the highest in the banking sector to date. We truly appreciate this and are optimistic that the transition to a holding company will bring even greater returns.”

Also speaking, President of the Association of the Rights of Nigerian Shareholders (AARNS), Dr Faruk Umar, said, “The bank has performed exceptionally well, particularly in terms of succession planning. It’s encouraging to see the new managing director promoted from within, reinforcing our belief in the bank’s leadership development.”

Daily Trust reports that the Zenith Bank Group achieved a remarkable triple-digit growth of 125 per cent in gross earnings, from N945.6bn in the previous year to N2.132trn in 2023. This was driven by a 112 per cent YoY growth in interest income and a 141 per cent YoY growth in non-interest income. Customer deposits grew by 69 per cent, reflecting the bank’s market leadership and customers’ trust. Operating expenses grew by 32 per cent YoY. Total assets rose by 66 per cent, largely due to growth in total deposits and the revaluation of foreign currency deposits

In 2024, the Zenith Bank Group plans to expand its reach following its restructuring into a holding company structure, adding new verticals to its businesses and pursuing growth in all chosen markets locally and internationally.
