Actress Olivia Munn continues to share her journey since being diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

In a new interview with Vogue, published Sunday, the “Newsroom” actress revealed that she recently had a hysterectomy.

“I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries,” she said.

Munn said that the procedure, which took place last month, was an alternative to taking a cancer treatment medication that was causing her to experience “next-level, debilitating exhaustion.” She said it was “a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family.”

The hysterectomy would improve her quality of life, but it also meant that she’d no longer be able to carry any future children. Munn and comedian John Mulaney welcomed their son, Malcom, in 2021.

“John and I talked about it a lot and we don’t feel like we’re done growing our family,” she said.

Munn, who had previously frozen her eggs twice in the past, said she underwent another round of egg retrieval before moving ahead with the hysterectomy, in hopes of making an embryo to use for surrogacy. When her doctor later informed the couple that they had two healthy embryos, she and Mulaney “just started crying.”

“It was just so exciting because not only did we get it in one retrieval, but it also meant that I didn’t have to keep putting myself at risk,” she said.

Munn first revealed that she was diagnosed with a form of breast cancer known as Luminal B cancer in March. The cancer was found in both of her breasts, and Munn’s treatment included a double mastectomy.

“This journey has made me realize how grateful I am to have options for not only fighting cancer,” she said, “but also having more children if we want.”

The late country music artist Toby Keith was honored over the weekend during commencement at the University of Oklahoma.

Keith, who died of stomach cancer at the age of 62 in February, had learned prior to his passing that he would be receiving an honorary doctorate, which was accepted by his daughter, Krystal Keith, according a post on his Instagram account.

“Toby learned he would be receiving an honorary degree from @uofoklahoma last fall, and yesterday, @krystalkeith accepted it on his behalf at the commencement ceremony,” a caption on photos showing Keith’s adult daughter at the graduation ceremony reads. “Congratulations to all of the OU graduates!”

It was announced in April that the university would be honoring the “singer, songwriter, entertainer and successful businessman whose illustrious music career included more than 10 billion streams and 44 million albums sold and whose generosity enhanced the university and state of Oklahoma for decades.”

Keith went public with his stomach cancer diagnosis in 2022, which he had been dealing with since October 2021.

In addition to his music career, Keith was also a well known philanthropist who served as president of the Toby Keith Foundation.

He and his wife of almost 40 years, Tricia Lucas, shared three children her daughters, Shelley and Krystal, and son, Stelen.

Chris Pine had to have a thick skin coming up in Hollywood amid a struggle with acne early on in his career

In a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Pine said that he had “awful skin” as a teenager and after college and took issue with the fact that acne can sometimes be regarded as something only teenagers go through. In his case, he said, it was “tremendously debilitating and really seriously emotionally incapacitating.”

“It was one of the most traumatic points of my life but it is my story,” he said.

The discussion was prompted by the podcast’s host Josh Horowitz asking Pine how he felt about comments that “The O.C.” casting director Patrick Rush made last year in Alan Sepinwall’s 2023 book “Welcome to The O.C.: The Oral History.”

In it, Rush revealed that Pine read for the role of Ryan Atwood for the series, but that his “really bad skin” at the time, to Rush, was “insurmountable.” The role of Atwood ultimately went to actor Ben McKenzie, who starred in the series during its run from 2003 to 2007.

Pine candidly said that he felt like Rush “didn’t have to talk about it” in the book.

“I can understand that they wanted to have pretty people doing pretty things and bad acne is not a key,” he said. “I don’t want to say I’m grateful for not having landed that… but I’m alright.”

Pine, of course, is more than alright. He went on to have a successful career in Hollywood starring as Captain Kirk in the rebooted “Star Trek” franchise and appearing in critically-acclaimed films like “Don’t Worry Darling” and “Hell or High Water.”

He said will never forget the struggle he went through to get to this point.

“I know how depressing it can be and the kind of depths of sorrow it can drag you to,” he said. “But there is a brighter day.”

Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi has been treated for injuries after being punched in the face while walking in New York City.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) told CNN it is investigating the assault, which took place on Wednesday and is the latest in a string of random attacks in the city.

Last month, CNN spoke to half a dozen women who said they were hit in the face out of nowhere while on the streets of New York City.

“Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” his publicist said in a statement to CNN.

“He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY,” the statement said.

According to the NYPD, officers were called to the scene at 369 3rd Avenue just before noon on Wednesday, May 8.

“Upon arrival, officers were informed a 66-year-old male was punched in the face by an unidentified individual,” the police statement said.

“At this time are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing,” police said.

The police department has asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Some familiar faces are ready to reveal a lot more of themselves.

Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, NFL All-Pro Chris Jones and James Van Der Beek are among the men set to go “The Real Full Monty” with striptease performances in an upcoming TV special.

“The Real Full Monty” is inspired by the 1997 movie “The Full Monty,” about a group of regular guys who form a male striptease act.

The two-hour special is aimed at raising awareness for prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer testing and research and will air this fall on Fox.

“Don’t die of embarrassment. Get checked! That’s the message behind The Real Full Monty special,” Anderson said in a press announcement. “I am honored to lead the charge of rallying these fearless men to bare it all, in order to provoke, inspire and in this case, beg you to get screened for cancer. That’s our goal … so what are you waiting for?”

Anderson also serves as an executive producer on the special.

Fox announced the event with its upcoming 2024-2025 programming slate, describing it as “a daring group of male celebrities” stripping down for cancer research.

Anderson will lead Diggs, Jones, Van Der Beek, “Teen Wolf” alum Tyler Posey and “Dancing with the Stars” judge Bruno Tonioli “as they train and rehearse for the most revealing performance of their careers, culminating with a big striptease dance, choreographed by Emmy Award winner Mandy Moore, where they will bare all in front of a live audience,” the network said of the special.

“Leading up to the final disrobing, the men will push their limits of comfortability, modesty and brotherhood with a series of rehearsals and experiences, both private and public, designed to build confidence and remove them far from their comfort zone and strengthen their bond as a group. Along the way, each of the celebrities will share their personal stories of how cancer has impacted their lives,” the description added.

In perhaps another nod to Kelce, Swift wore a two-piece yellow and orange ensemble during the “1989” portion of her show, a probable nod to the colors of the Kansas City Chiefs. She wore different color combinations of this outfit on previous nights in Paris.

Swift also once again changed the lyrics during “Karma” to make reference to Kelce, singing “karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”

The three-time Super Bowl champ and Swift have been romantically linked since September after she attended her first football game to watch Kelce play. The couple have each been seen attending each other’s games and concerts, respectively, ever since.

Susan Peters says her dating era has ended

Recall that Susan Peters married her Dutch lover in a traditional wedding ceremony held in 2015 in Benue State. The couple later married at Ikoyi Marriage Registry, Lagos State.

Bruce Springsteen is coming to the small screen.

On Tuesday, Disney announced that a new documentary film titled “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” will debut on Disney+ and Hulu this fall, offering viewers “the most in-depth look ever at the creation of their legendary live performances” from the band’s 2023-2024 world tour.

The doc will look into the band’s pre-tour preparation process, follow them throughout their travels as they perform in front of tens of thousands of concertgoers and feature “fly-on-the-wall footage of band rehearsals and special moments backstage,” the release read.

Viewers will also hear from Springsteen himself and see him develop “the story he wants to tell with this tour’s setlist – interspersed with rare archival clips of The E Street Band, underscoring themes of life, loss, mortality and community.”

The film was directed by Springsteen’s longtime collaborator, award-winning director Thom Zimny, who previously worked with the “Dancing in the Dark” singer on his “Springsteen on Broadway” show.

Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their most recent tour in February of 2023. In September, the 74-year-old rock legend announced he had to reschedule over 20 shows as he recovered from “peptic ulcer disease.” The band is currently performing the international leg of their tour, which is slated to conclude in November.

One of the most celebrated rock musicians in the modern era, Springsteen is known for hits like “Born in the U.S.A.,” “Streets of Philadelphia” and “Born to Run,” among many others.

“Road Diary” will debut in October, with an exact air date yet to be announced.

Operatives of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Bureau De Change operators in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt, as the Naira dropped to 1,520 on Tuesday.

The naira weakened further at both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets.

EFCC’s recent raid comes amid renewed efforts by the Federal Government to tackle the naira’s recent fall against the greenback.

The activities of currency speculators in the forex markets and the digital cryptocurrency space have reportedly increased pressure on the naira, with the government accusing crypto traders of speculating against the national currency.

Last week, some BDC operators were arrested in Abuja for allegedly speculating against the naira.

Despite resistance by some BDC operators, law enforcement officials have continued to conduct regular raids on unauthorised currency traders in the Federal Capital Territory.

Currency operators, who spoke to one of our correspondents, confirmed that the latest sting operations occurred at various times during the day in Lagos, Kano Port Harcourt and Abuja on Monday.

The commission alleged that the defendants Maleke’s musical works and sound recordings with subsisting copyright, known as “caller ring back tunes” without authorisation.

The NCC’s lawyer, Gladys Ojo, made the allegation before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court, in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Ekwo had, on April 29, fixed today for Toriola and other co-defendants to take their plea following his failure to appear in court on the last adjourned date for their arraignment.

NAN reports that the NCC had, in a charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/111/2024, sued MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd; Toriola; MTN Senior Executive Officer, Nkeakam Abhulimen; Fun Mobile Ltd, a telecommunications service provider; and Yahaya Maibe, its CEO as 1st to 5th defendants respectively.

In the three count-count charges dated March 19 and filed March 20 by Emeka Ogbonna on NCC’s behalf, the prosecution alleged that the defendants, between 2010 and 2017, “offered for sale, sold and traded for business, infringed musical works of Maleke Moye, an artiste, without his consent and authorisation.”

The commission alleged that the defendants used Maleke’s musical works and sound recordings with subsisting copyright, known as “caller ring back tunes” without the authorisation of the artiste.

The musical works and sound recordings of the musician allegedly infringed upon include “911, Minimini-Wana Wana, Stop Racism, Ewole, 911 instrumental, Radio, Low Waist, and No Bother.”

The defendants were also alleged to have illegally distributed the musical works to their subscribers, without authorisation, thereby infringing on the rights of the artiste. In the third count, the defendants were alleged of having in their possession, the musical works and sound recordings of the artiste, other than for their personal or domestic use.

The copyright commission said the alleged offence is punishable under Section 20 (2) (a) (b) and (c) of the Copyright Act, Cap. C28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

NAN reports that on the last adjourned date, Toriola and Abhulimen were neither in court nor represented by any counsel. When the case was called on Tuesday, Toriola and Abhulimen were again not in court.

Speaking, Ojo said although the matter was fixed for arraignment today, only Maibe (5th defendant) was in court. She said all efforts made to personally serve Toriola were unsuccessful. The lawyer said the MTN MD allegedly refused to be served.

“The last time, we told my lord that we were having issues serving the MTN CEO.

“We sent our officers to the MTN office in Lagos to serve them but we were denied access. We also sent the charge via DHL,” she said.

But Obafemi Agaba, who appeared for 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants (MTN Ltd, Toriola and Abhulimen), told the judge that the MD and Abhulimen were yet to be served with the charges in the suit.

He argued that the rule of the court is that the defendants be served personally in criminal matters, adding that the prosecution “has not applied for substituted service.”

Agaba also drew the attention of the court to his preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court and the competence of the suit. But Justice Ekwo advised the MTN lawyer to do everything to ensure that his clients are served with the processes.

The judge also told the NCC lawyer that she ought to know the necessary legal steps to take regarding service.

“Nobody can evade service except you don’t know what to do,” the judge told Ojo.

Justice Ekwo, who adjourned the matter until June 27 for arraignment, said: “However, if the court becomes aware of any application that has been filed before that date, parties will receive hearing notices before that date.”

In a video shared on X by The Nation, the Speaker said, “The traditional and religious leaders approached me, and I decided to support the girls.

“They initially submitted the names of 210 girls to me, but we cut it down to 100. Does the Minister want to say that these leaders are wrong?

“They told me that I would bless the marriage, and I told them I cannot attend every marriage, so they should do it in a day, and I would grace the occasion, and that is the reason for the event.

“I had wanted to grace the occasion but I won’t do that again since helping my people has become a crime.

“I will not withdraw whatever support or donations I have given to the leaders and the parents. If they wish to get married, they can. If not, they can use the money and the items for something else,” he stated. Sarkindaji insisted he did no wrong.

“I am a typical Hausa man. What is out of order in what I have done? Why is this issue being overflogged? I have pledged to take care of orphans, and that is what I am doing.

“If the federal government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs, wants to extend their helping hands, let them do so, and they are welcome.”

The minister announced on Monday that she had taken legal action to halt the mass marriage scheduled for May 24 and had also filed a complaint with the police.
