Ahead of the October 5th Local Government (LG) election in Benue, Governor Hyacinth Alia has declared Friday, October 4, as a work-free day. The announcement was made in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, and shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Thursday.
The work-free day aims to facilitate travel for the electorate to their respective local government areas to exercise their voting rights. Governor Alia emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged all citizens to use this opportunity to fulfill their civic duty.
Alia expressed confidence that with commitment and participation, the elections would be conducted smoothly and fairly. He urged both public and private sector organizations to support this initiative by allowing their employees to take part in the voting process.
Additionally, the governor called on citizens to prioritize peaceful conduct and collaboration during the elections, reinforcing the need for unity among all parties involved.
