Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made these accusations during a courtesy visit from the PDP’s Board of Trustees, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, at the Government House in Bauchi on Thursday.
Mohammed, who also serves as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, claimed that the APC has been planting moles within the PDP to gather intelligence. He highlighted the peculiar situation of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, a PDP member serving under the APC, as both “baffling” and “bizarre.”
“We have to close ranks. This challenge is not insurmountable, and with the grace of God, we will find a solution,” Mohammed said. “It is only PDP with the experience of governance that is being challenged. This is a creation of the APC; they want us to be in disarray.”
Despite the challenges, Mohammed expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to resolve its internal issues, stating, “The APC does not have members who can perform like ours. This is a recognition of PDP’s human capital to deliver for Nigeria.”
Senator Wabara, who led the delegation, explained that their visit was to address the party’s crisis, particularly in Rivers State, and to discuss the election of a substantive National Chairman. He emphasized the PDP’s commitment to resolving internal disputes and preventing factionalism from dividing the party. “We are not happy with the current situation, and neither are Nigerians. We will address and resolve these issues within the PDP,” Wabara assured.
