BAUCHI FIRST-CLASS TRADITIONAL RULER DIES AFTER 46 YEARS ON THE THRONE

The Emir of Ningi in Bauchi State, Yunusa Danyaya, has passed away after a prolonged illness. The royal father died on Sunday morning at the Expert Alliance Hospital in Kano, just two days after returning from a medical trip to Mecca on August 22.

Alhaji Usman Sule, Secretary to the Ningi Emirate Council, confirmed the emir’s death in a statement. He announced that the funeral prayer for the late emir would be held at the Emir’s palace in Ningi at 4:00 p.m.

Yunusa Danyaya was installed as a first-class traditional ruler in Bauchi State in 1978, marking a reign of 46 years. His leadership was noted for the significant social and economic development within the emirate council.

Born in Ningi in 1936, Danyaya attended Ningi Elementary School from 1941 to 1946 and Bauchi Middle School from 1946 to 1951. He furthered his education at the School of Hygiene in Kano in 1951 and completed a one-year course in Public Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, between 1956 and 1957.
