Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory over Young Boys in their Champions League clash on Tuesday. The five-time champions bounced back from their earlier defeat to Monaco in style, overwhelming the Swiss side at home.
Barcelona’s early dominance was evident as Lewandowski opened the scoring in just eight minutes, capitalizing on a cross-shot from Raphinha. The Catalans continued to control the game, with Raphinha himself adding a second after a blocked shot landed at his feet. Inigo Martinez then headed home from a Pedri free-kick to make it 3-0 before halftime.
Lewandowski added his second of the night early in the second half, nodding in from close range after Martinez assisted from a corner. Despite a few attempts from Young Boys, including a crossbar hit by Joel Monteiro, Barcelona remained firmly in control.
The night was capped off by an own goal from Mohamed Camara, who deflected a cross into his own net, sealing a 5-0 win for the hosts. Barcelona fans also welcomed the return of Frenkie de Jong, who made his first appearance since April following an ankle injury.
This emphatic victory boosted Barcelona’s goal difference and revived their Champions League campaign under coach Hansi Flick, with Lewandowski now having netted nine goals in ten games this season.
