In a tragic development, bandits have killed Alhaji Isah Daya, the district head of Kanya village, under the Denko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Daya was recently abducted alongside eight others during a raid on his village.

According to vigilante members, the armed bandits took Daya and the others hostage, but combined security forces managed to rescue the eight abductees unharmed. Unfortunately, the district head was not among those saved and was killed by his captors.

A local resident from Kanya village, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the death of the monarch, stating that his remains have already been deposited at Kanya hospital.

The state government released a statement through the Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, confirming the rescue of the eight individuals but did not clarify whether the district head was included among them.

Attempts to reach the state police spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, for further comments were unsuccessful, as calls placed to his line went unanswered at press time.
