Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has voiced her outrage over the abduction and murder of Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The tragedy involved Adeleye Ayomide, who has been accused of the crime.

On September 5, 2024, Ayra Starr took to X to call for improved treatment of women and demand justice for Christiana. Her post read, “Stop killing us! Stop raping us! Women deserve better #JusticeForChristianah.”

Christiana Idowu was kidnapped in August along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road. Her abductors initially contacted her parents using her WhatsApp account, leading to her being reported missing on August 19, 2024. They demanded ₦1.5 million in ransom, but her parents could only raise ₦350,000, which was transferred according to the kidnappers’ instructions.

Despite the partial ransom payment, the kidnappers eventually cut off contact. Investigations revealed that the abductor, Adeleye Ayomide, had previously interacted with Christiana on social media. Ayomide, a 200-level student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, was apprehended by the police on September 3, 2024. He confessed to murdering Christiana and burying her at his family home.
