“Atiku Calls on Kano State Government to Investigate Mosque Explosion and Ensure Justice for Victims”
Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has urged the Kano State government to thoroughly investigate the explosion at Larabar Abasawa in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, reported by DAILY POST, involved a 38-year-old man, Shafi’u Abubakar, who used a petrol bomb to set the mosque on fire during early morning prayers. The tragic event resulted in the loss of lives, with the death toll rising to fifteen, as confirmed by the Kano State Police Command.
Expressing his sorrow over the incident, Atiku condemned the heinous crime and extended his condolences to the families of the victims. He emphasized that such violence has no place in society and called for swift action to ensure justice for the victims.
In a post on X, Atiku wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the horrendous arson involving 23 people who were burnt alive while praying in a mosque at Larabar Abasawa in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.”
He continued, “This horrific killing of trapped worshippers, and indeed of any other innocent citizens, has no place in our society. I share my condolences with families who lost loved ones to this criminal act.”
Atiku also expressed hope for the swift recovery of the surviving victims and urged the authorities to deploy available medical resources for their care.
In conclusion, Atiku urged the Kano State government and other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrator of the crime is brought to justice.
