Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned the people of Edo State against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election. He warned that supporting the APC would equate to endorsing continued misery and hardship.
In a Facebook post titled ‘The Clear Choice for a Prosperous Edo State’ on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Atiku urged voters to reflect on whether their lives have improved under APC rule, arguing that the party has exacerbated the country’s suffering. He described the APC’s tenure as a period of severe economic and social decline.
Atiku advised the electorate to vote for Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to ensure a future of prosperity. He emphasized that voting for Ighodalo represents a commitment to reclaiming and enhancing the future of Edo State, contrasting this with what he portrayed as APC’s empty promises and failed leadership.
He criticized the APC for its handling of fuel prices and the overall economic situation, accusing the party of hypocrisy and neglect. According to Atiku, the APC’s promises have proven hollow, revealing a reality driven by power rather than genuine concern for the people’s welfare.
Atiku also claimed that under the APC, Nigeria has plunged into deep suffering, characterized by poverty and insecurity, and criticized the current administration for ignoring the needs of the common man. He urged Edo voters to seize the opportunity to break away from ineffective governance and support a new direction for their state.
