On August 16, 2024, Asake launched his highly anticipated ‘Lungu Boy’ tour with a sold-out performance at Capital One Arena in Washington DC.
The concert featured a dynamic setlist of Asake’s hit singles, including tracks from his recently released third album, Lungu Boy. The tour is set to include stops in six US cities, with upcoming shows at prominent venues such as the Toyota Center in Houston, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and Madison Square Garden in New York.
Asake’s new album, Lungu Boy, has achieved remarkable success, setting a record for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria with 18.9 million streams, surpassing Davido’s previous record of 14.4 million streams for Timeless. Additionally, Lungu Boy has also set a new record for the highest number of global streams on Spotify in a single day for a Nigerian album, with 9.2 million streams.
The album features collaborations with top artists, including Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American star Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmilla. The track “MMS” from the album also set a new record on Spotify Nigeria for the highest number of streams on its first day, reaching 870,577, beating Wizkid’s previous record of 626,000 streams for “IDK” feat Zlatan.
