The Headquarters Theatre Command, represented by Acting Deputy Director Captain Reuben Konvangiya, announced the transfer of 350 rescued civilians to the Borno State Government. The rescued individuals, comprising 6 adult males, 135 females, and 209 children, were liberated during clearance and offensive operations conducted by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the Sambisa forest.

During the handover ceremony, Deputy Theatre Commander Major General Kenneth Chigbu commended the troops for their professionalism and expressed gratitude to international and local partners as well as the Borno State Government for their support to military operations in the North East. He attributed the success to the leadership of Major General Waidi Shaibu, the Theatre Commander, and hailed it as another significant milestone achieved by the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI.

Upon receiving the rescued civilians, Hajjiya Y’arbauchi, Director of Social Welfare at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Borno State, expressed appreciation for the military’s coordinated efforts. She disclosed that the rescued individuals would undergo profiling, medical checks, and skill acquisition training at Internally Displaced Persons Camp before being reunited with their families.
