The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been declared the winner of the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, securing all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 21 local government areas.
Genevieve Osakwe, Chairperson of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), announced the results at the ANSIEC office in Awka. She described the elections as free and fair, highlighting the commission’s diligent process in collating and analyzing the results to ensure accuracy.
Osakwe noted that no opposition candidates or party agents contested the results at the ANSIEC office, emphasizing the peaceful turnout of voters and the effective role of security agencies in maintaining order during the elections.
She stated, “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councillorship elections held on September 28, 2024. We carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.”
The election saw a significant voter turnout, reflecting the civic engagement of the people of Anambra State. Osakwe commended the citizens for their participation and reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
