The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing Mobilisation Vanguard has condemned Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal’s recent actions targeting Minister of State Defense, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Matawalle. Chairman Alhaji Ashiru Tukur-Sadauki accused Governor Lawal of orchestrating a witch-hunt aimed at undermining federal efforts to combat insecurity in the North-West.
The group criticized Governor Lawal’s media tour, where he allegedly spread propaganda against Minister Matawalle, claiming it compromised the morale of troops involved in Operation Fansan Yamma. Tukur-Sadauki expressed disappointment, stating, “It is very disheartening to see a chief security officer of the state bringing up issues already resolved for cheap publicity,” calling the governor’s demand for Matawalle to resign “laughable.”
He characterized the governor’s actions as immature and counterproductive to President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to eradicate banditry and terrorism in the region. The group urged Minister Matawalle to focus on successful operations against bandits rather than engage with Governor Lawal.
