In the recent Edo State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in Oredo Local Government Area, which is Governor Godwin Obaseki’s home base. According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday in Benin City, APC’s Senator Monday Okpebholo received 30,780 votes, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, garnered 24,938 votes. Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata received 5,389 votes.
However, the PDP has contested the results from 12 local governments, including Oredo, citing allegations of irregularities and disruptions during the collation process.
