The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed alleged plans by certain individuals to create internal conflicts within the party ahead of the local government elections scheduled for October 9, 2024.
According to the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, a group calling itself “foundation members” is reportedly mobilizing to stir confusion and division within the APC. The group is said to be working with certain media outlets to misrepresent the party’s internal affairs to the public.
Bamaiyi dismissed the group’s claims of seniority, stating that all members of the APC are equally recognized and respected. He suggested that the group’s actions are part of a broader agenda to weaken the party ahead of the local government elections, particularly as recent defections from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken place, including key figures like former Commissioner Dyabbu Garga and former Deputy Speaker Saleh Yipmong.
The APC has called on its members to remain calm, united, and to disregard any misinformation spread by the group, which it believes is attempting to undermine the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
