The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that former Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Amaechi, remains a strong political force and the leader of the party in Rivers State.
As the APC handed party flags to its standard bearers across 21 local government areas ahead of the October 5th LGA elections, Chief Emeka Beke, the state party chairman, emphasized Amaechi’s unwavering commitment to the politics of the state. Despite his silence on recent political events, Beke stated that the former governor continues to support the party’s activities.
“Amaechi remains the leader of APC in Rivers State. You can’t write the history of politics in the state without dedicating a full book to Amaechi,” Beke remarked.
He confirmed Amaechi’s support for the party’s fielding of candidates for the LGA polls and reiterated that the election would proceed as planned. Beke referenced a court ruling from Justice I. Igwe in Port Harcourt, which cleared the path for the election despite a subsequent judgement from Justice Peter Lifu in Abuja.
“There’s no tension in Rivers State. Rivers people are stronger than those trying to cause problems,” Beke added, warning against any attempts to disrupt the elections.
