Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the escalating hunger and economic hardship in the country. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed concern that the recent fuel price increase would exacerbate the already dire situation faced by the masses.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), emphasized the need for a more rapid and impactful approach to alleviating the suffering of Nigerians. He acknowledged the President’s efforts but stressed that immediate action is necessary.
He highlighted the increasing economic hardship caused by rising prices of essential goods, including food, petrol, electricity, and cooking gas, stating that these challenges have become unbearable for many Nigerians. Oyintiloye also pointed out that the delay in implementing the suspension of customs duties and taxes on imported food items, a measure aimed at combating food inflation, has only worsened the situation.
While praising the President’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, Oyintiloye urged the swift removal of bureaucratic obstacles hindering the implementation of critical policies. He also called for continued public support for the President, assuring that the current hardships would eventually yield long-term benefits
