ANAMBRA POLICE INVESTIGATE MURDER OF THREE IN LAND DISPUTE

The Police Command in Anambra State has launched an investigation into the killing of three individuals, including an orphan named Chubuzor Onyesoh, in Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Njikoka area. The victims were reportedly murdered amid a land dispute between Enugwu-Ukwu and Nwafia communities.

DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the investigation was initiated following the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam’s visit to the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were lured to the disputed land area under the pretense of a land transaction. They were then attacked with firearms and machetes.

POLICE RESPONSE AND ACTION

CP Itam has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and has called for calm among the feuding factions. The police have recovered the vehicle used by the suspects and have deposited the victims’ remains in the morgue. Efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the killings.

COMMUNITY REACTIONS

Chief Patrick Nworji, President-General of Enugwu-Ukwu Community, expressed that the incident has created tension within the community but assured that efforts are being made to manage the situation. Mazi Christian Beluchukwu, a resident, condemned the killings and urged security agencies to intensify their efforts to catch the perpetrators.
