The Anambra State Government has announced plans to take strict action against parents who use their children for street begging and prostitution. This move is part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to modernize and regenerate the state.
State Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, expressed concern over the continued presence of children begging on the streets despite the state’s free education program. He emphasized that these children should be in school rather than on the streets, which undermines the government’s modernization efforts.
Nwosu highlighted the government’s commitment to enforce laws against child begging and prostitution. He stated that state agencies would soon begin targeting the parents and syndicates involved in this practice to ensure children benefit from the free education provided by the state.
