AIG ADEGOKE ESTABLISHES PROBE PANEL INTO WOMAN’S ALLEGATION OF DETENTION WITH MALES

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, AIG Fayoade Adegoke, has constituted a six-member panel to investigate allegations made by a woman who claimed she was detained at the Maroko Police Station alongside male and under-aged individuals. This allegation gained significant attention after a video went viral.

The panel comprises the following members:

  • DCP Ajao S. Adewale, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID)
  • ACP Ogunsakin Gbenga, Officer in charge of the Zonal Intelligence Department
  • Mr. Emma Nndozie, Group Crime Editor of Vanguard Newspapers
  • Comrade Adeoye Adewunmi, a human rights activist
  • Ivy Kanu of TVC News
  • Mrs. Blessing Afe, a lawyer and social worker

The formal inauguration of the probe panel is scheduled to take place at the MD Abubakar Conference Hall, Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, at 12 noon today.

Police authorities stated that this action aligns with the contemporary leadership’s commitment to respecting human rights and addressing gender-related issues.
