An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of 42-year-old Christopher Israel in a correctional center for allegedly raping his 22-year-old daughter.

Israel has been charged with rape and assault. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Olubunmi Bamidele, did not take his plea due to jurisdictional constraints. She ordered that he be held in custody pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case has been adjourned until November 6 for further mention.

During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Insp. Olubu Apata, informed the court that the alleged offense occurred on September 21 in Ado-Ekiti. He claimed that Israel raped his daughter, who had come to visit him, and that he also inflicted injuries on her during the struggle.

This incident contravenes Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021. The prosecutor urged the court to remand Israel while awaiting legal guidance from the DPP’s office.
