Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Durojaiye has taken a strong stand in the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests, voicing his commitment to the cause and criticizing colleagues who have aligned themselves with the government. During an interview with News Central at the protest ground in Ojota, Lagos State, Durojaiye passionately expressed his disappointment in some Nollywood actresses who supported the government but are now facing backlash from Nigerians, leading them to disable comments on their social media platforms.
Durojaiye stressed his unwavering belief in Nigeria, despite the challenges and hardships. He stated, “I’m telling you that for those of us who still believe in this country, those of us who have continuously fought, I am still in this struggle. I am with you and I am telling you that even if they end our lives, bad governance must end. We are prepared to die in the struggle.”
The nationwide protests, which began on August 1, 2024, are a response to widespread discontent with bad governance and rising hunger in the country. Unfortunately, the protests have been marked by clashes between police and local miscreants in several states, including Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Borno. Despite these challenges, Durojaiye remains resolute in his fight for a better Nigeria.
