Mr. Kennedy Iyere, the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, has officially withdrawn from the 2024 Edo Gubernatorial election.

Iyere cited his desire to serve Nigeria at a higher level, using his expertise to tackle social and economic challenges, particularly the food and hunger crisis, as the primary reason for his withdrawal.

He previously presented the ‘Food4All Initiative’ to President Tinubu, aiming for food security and mass employment through the “One-Family-One-Farmer Scheme.”

Additionally, Iyere mentioned internal party conflicts, including alleged conspiracies involving his running mate, Bright Enabulele, who sought to undermine his candidacy.

He urged eligible voters in Edo State to reject violence and vote their conscience, emphasizing the need for equitable power rotation among the three Senatorial Districts.

Iyere expressed his commitment to national development, focusing on assisting the federal government in creating a roadmap for economic inclusion and youth engagement through social intervention programs.

He stated, “My focus is no longer on the governorship seat but on a higher and bigger portfolio than a Governor. I want to serve Nigerians at large and help rebuild Nigeria’s lost economic greatness.” He concluded that serving as Governor would limit his impact, prompting his decision to aim for a federal role where he believes he can contribute more significantly
