Victor Osimhen has emerged as one of the key targets for Manchester United in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Nigerian striker is reportedly on a shortlist of four potential forwards the Premier League giants are considering to strengthen their attack.

Osimhen, currently on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray, has been in stellar form, scoring 26 goals in 30 appearances, including 20 goals in 22 league games, making him the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig. His impressive performances have generated interest from several top clubs, and he is set to return to Napoli in the summer. However, a permanent departure from Napoli appears likely, with Manchester United reportedly keen on securing his services.

Manchester United’s need for a reliable striker has grown as their current options, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund, have struggled to find consistent form. Zirkzee has netted just six goals in 44 appearances, while Højlund has scored eight in 39 matches. As a result, the club has struggled in the final third, registering just 37 goals in 29 Premier League matches this season, ranking them behind 13 other teams in terms of goals scored.

Osimhen is not the only forward on Manchester United’s radar. Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres, who has impressed with his goal-scoring abilities, is also a target. Additionally, the club is monitoring two Bundesliga forwards: Benjamin Šeško of RB Leipzig, who has scored 17 goals and provided six assists this season, and Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, who has 19 goals and eight assists to his name.

Interestingly, Napoli is reportedly considering Rasmus Højlund as a potential replacement for Osimhen, should the Nigerian striker depart in the summer.

As Osimhen continues his international duties with the Super Eagles, preparing for crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, he has expressed his determination to ensure Nigeria qualifies for the 2026 World Cup after their failure to make it to the 2022 tournament.

With multiple top clubs vying for his signature, Osimhen’s future is set to be one of the most closely watched transfer stories of the summer.
