Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper (Olanrewaju Ogunmefun David) recently shared an intriguing detail about his family history, revealing that his mother is related to legendary Nigerian highlife musician Orlando Owoh. He made this revelation while participating in a viral trend on X (formerly Twitter), where users were asked to share something remarkable about their family history or ancestors. Vector wrote, “My mum and Orlando Owoh are related.”
This revelation sparked excitement among fans, with many urging him to sample some of Orlando Owoh’s iconic music.
Orlando Owoh, known as “Dr. Orlando Owoh,” was a celebrated highlife musician who began his career in 1958 as a drummer with the Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group. In 1960, he formed his own band, Dr. Orlando Owoh and His Omimah Band, and went on to have a highly successful career spanning over 40 years. Owoh released more than 45 albums and is regarded as one of the prominent figures in Nigerian highlife music. He passed away on November 4, 2008, and was buried in Agege, Lagos.
