Nigerian actor Sanusi Izihaq, known professionally as Apa, has opened up about why he has remained in Nollywood despite facing several challenges in the industry. During an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk to B podcast, Apa revealed that actor Ibrahim Chatta played a pivotal role in his decision to stay in the industry.
Apa shared that there were several times when he felt discouraged and contemplated leaving Nollywood due to the toxic work environment and negative experiences with certain directors. He recalled an incident where a director who had never worked with him vowed to deal with him, which led to emotional moments where he considered quitting acting altogether.
However, Ibrahim Chatta’s constant support and encouragement helped him persevere. According to Apa, Chatta was there during his difficult moments, even seeing him cry on a few occasions, and always advised him not to give up. Chatta’s encouragement and his invitation to work on various projects helped Apa regain his confidence and keep going in Nollywood.
This support from Chatta has been crucial in Apa’s decision to remain in the industry despite the setbacks.
