A senior lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Oguejiofor Ujam, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen along the Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka road. Prof. Ujam, who is the Dean of the School of General Studies and a member of the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, was abducted on Sunday morning on this well-known route, notorious for such incidents.
This kidnapping follows a similar incident on Saturday, where an official from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), identified as Emeason Chima, was also abducted along the same road.
Details surrounding Prof. Ujam’s abduction remain unclear, and as of now, there has been no communication from the suspected kidnappers with his family regarding ransom demands. Efforts to contact the police command spokesperson for further comments have been unsuccessful, as calls went unanswered. The situation has raised concerns about safety along the Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka road, urging authorities to take action to address the rising incidents of kidnapping in the area.
