ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND CONCLUDES INVESTIGATION INTO FATAL SHOOTING OF OGENE MUSICIAN, IGBO-JAH

The Enugu State Police Command has completed its investigation into the tragic shooting of Chikezie Okezie Nwamba, a renowned Ogene musician known as Igbo-Jah, allegedly by police officer Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph. The incident, which took place on October 25, 2024, has led to Inspector Joseph undergoing an orderly room trial in line with Nigeria Police Force disciplinary procedures due to accusations of reckless conduct resulting in Nwamba’s death.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, ordered the reassignment of SP Ekeleme Chidobe, Officer in Charge of the Tactical Squad, to enable a thorough review of the unit’s practices. A statement by police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe highlighted the Commissioner’s commitment to justice for Nwamba and to upholding police professionalism. The Commissioner also appealed to the public for their support in ensuring a fair and comprehensive conclusion to the case.
