Chicago rapper Lil Durk was arrested on October 24, 2024, just days after receiving the Keys to the Village of Broadview and Bellwood for his contributions to the communities. His arrest is linked to the killing of Quando Rondo’s cousin, which allegedly stemmed from the murder of rapper King Von, who was associated with Durk’s crew, Only The Family (OTF).
The indictment details that after King Von’s death, an unnamed co-conspirator from OTF allegedly received an offer from Durk, promising money and lucrative music opportunities to anyone willing to kill Quando Rondo. The situation escalated in August 2022 when a gunman targeted Rondo, whose real name is Terrell Bowman, while he was at a gas station in West Hollywood. Although Rondo and his sister escaped unharmed, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, 24, was shot multiple times and died from his injuries.
Lil Durk, alongside five other members of OTF, faces serious charges, including murder-for-hire and the use of a deadly weapon in a murder. These charges carry severe penalties, potentially including life imprisonment or the death penalty.
This incident further highlights the ongoing issues of violence and criminal activity within the hip-hop community, as Lil Durk joins the ranks of other prominent rappers, such as Young Thug, who are currently facing significant legal challenges.
