The vocal depth and lyrical strength of fast-rising singer Obukohowo Philip Onoriode, popularly known as Phil Clasiq, distinguish him in the Nigerian music industry. In an era where uniqueness is often overshadowed by imitation, Phil Clasiq has carved a niche for himself, showcasing the quality of his voice and outstanding songwriting skills. His distinct style has garnered him a dedicated fanbase, eager to celebrate his artistry.

With a growing fanbase propelling him toward stardom, Phil Clasiq acknowledges the critical role of his supporters in his career. In a recent media chat in Lagos, he expressed gratitude, saying, “I have always had loyal fans who are ready to go all out for me. They are my source of motivation every time I am writing, recording, and even performing. When my music captures you, you are glued to me forever.”

The Lagos-born artist classifies his music as Afro-pop and Afro-fusion, emphasizing his desire to reflect African and Nigerian culture. “It’s easier for me to portray the African in me through these genres. I can jump on any genre at any time, but Afro-pop and Afro-fusion resonate with my roots,” he noted. His hit song “Baby Girl” has further solidified his presence in the industry, and he believes that his music can stand the test of time.

Phil Clasiq envisions his music outliving him, attributing this ambition to his passion for creating timeless songs. He explains that the process of making music involves connecting the past, present, and future, and artists driven by passion create music that resonates over the long term.

Identifying Burna Boy as his favorite artist, Phil Clasiq admires his ability to blend genres and views him as a complete package. “He created Afro-fusion, and I draw a lot of inspiration from him,” he remarked.

As he prepares to take the industry to new heights, Phil Clasiq is determined to exceed the standards set by icons like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido. He is currently working on an EP and album, recognizing the hard work of previous generations as a foundation for his ambition. “I still have a lot to do. I want my discography to speak for itself, and I know my lyrics and voice have the Midas touch to win fans over,” he concluded, expressing excitement for what lies ahead.
