Weeks after the October 5 local government elections, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara stated that his administration holds no grudges against the Nigeria Police Force, despite previous instances of unprofessional behavior from some officers that attempted to undermine governance in the state.

Governor Fubara made these remarks while welcoming the new Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Bala, who was deployed to Rivers State Command two weeks ago, during a meeting at Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the government to ensure the security of lives and property in Rivers.

“We are receiving you with open hands… the worst of you, the worst of the Police is still better than the best of criminals,” Fubara stated, underscoring the necessity of working together despite past differences. He reassured that his administration has no personal issues with the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Rivers State Command.

Governor Fubara also urged police officers to maintain professionalism, adhere to the law, and refrain from being used against the peace and security of society.
