FIVE DEAD, NINE INJURED IN ABALAKALIKI-ENUGU EXPRESSWAY CRASH

At least five people lost their lives, and nine others sustained serious injuries in a lone vehicle accident on the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway, according to Mr. Igwe Nnabuife, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ebonyi Command. The incident occurred Thursday night near the G-Hostel junction, involving a commercial white Hummer bus with the registration number LSR 823 YJ.

Nnabuife explained that the driver lost control, colliding with debris from a road maintenance site. The impact led the bus to catch fire, resulting in five fatalities, while nine injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. The deceased were also taken to the hospital’s morgue after being confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The FRSC Commander advised drivers to exercise caution and stay vigilant on compromised road sections to prevent such tragic incidents
