A Chief Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered Sunday Emmanuel to be remanded at a Correctional Facility following allegations that he macheted his wife, Linda Emmanuel, to death and attempted to kill their 3-year-old son.

Emmanuel faces two charges: murder and attempted murder. According to Police Prosecutor Inspector Josephine Awanna, the incident occurred on October 7 at 5:30 PM in Ogbeni Camp, Ofosu, within the Idanre Local Government area.

Inspector Awanna detailed that during a dispute over their annual wages, Emmanuel allegedly used a machete to inflict fatal wounds on Linda, striking her on the neck and cheek. After killing his wife, he reportedly turned the machete on his son, causing life-threatening injuries to the child’s head.

The charge against Emmanuel states: “That you, Sunday Emmanuel, on October 7, 2004, at about 5:30 PM at Ogbeni Camp via Ofosu, in the Ondo Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Linda Emmanuel, 35, by macheting her on the neck and cheek, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 319 (1).”

The court has remanded Emmanuel until further proceedings in the case.
