The Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, has reaffirmed his dedication to showcasing Lagos State’s rich cultural heritage. He made this commitment during the launch of the Lagos Cultural Mission Movement, held at the Nike Arts Gallery in Lekki on Thursday.

The event drew a gathering of cultural enthusiasts as Lagos celebrated its Cultural Mission, aimed at placing the state’s vibrant cultural heritage on the global map.

Aregbe emphasized the importance of the event in facilitating interaction between the youth and elders, ensuring the transmission of cultural knowledge and practices to prevent them from fading into obscurity. He noted, “The Lagos Cultural Mission will run for the next six months, focusing on telling the Lagos story to the world through exploration, discovery, and celebration of our diversity for unity while boosting investors’ confidence in the state.”

He added, “When you look at the journey, we need to tell our story and sit down to learn about our values. We created the Lagos Cultural Mission to engage our narrative and ensure it resonates with lovers of Lagos. Let’s collaborate and support our youth on the streets, as many are eager to contribute positively to Lagos. We want to provide them with a platform to leverage their talents.”

Biodun Ajiboye, Director General of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, also spoke at the event, announcing that the institute now offers a monotechnic program. He highlighted the importance of educating future leaders about Nigeria’s history to instill an understanding of culture, comparative culture, and cultural diplomacy, ensuring the preservation of the nation’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.
