Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong Nominated for CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award

Nigerian footballers Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong have been nominated for the prestigious 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year award. They will compete against other top players, including Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, Simon Adingra of Côte d’Ivoire, and Serhou Guirassy of Guinea for this coveted honor.

Ademola Lookman was a standout performer in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph last season, where he scored a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen. Additionally, he made a significant impact for Nigeria, netting three goals in seven appearances during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

William Troost-Ekong, meanwhile, had an impressive tournament at the 2023 AFCON, where he was named the tournament’s best player, contributing three goals and helping Nigeria secure a second-place finish.

The CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16.
